Job Summary / Objective
We are looking for a driven and disciplined Business Development Representative (BDR) to support our growth across government, defense, and enterprise sectors. This is not a volume-sales SaaS role. You will be expected to identify high-value opportunities, engage with key stakeholders, and build a qualified pipeline for complex drone and aerial intelligence solutions.
Your primary responsibility will be outbound prospecting via calls, LinkedIn, email outreach, and industry research, with a strong focus on quality of leads over quantity.
A - Key Responsibilities Lead Generation and Prospecting
Identify and map target accounts across government departments, infrastructure companies, defense agencies, and large enterprises Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline using LinkedIn, industry databases, tenders, and CRM systems Initiate outreach via cold calls, emails, and strategic messaging Qualify prospects based on use case relevance,
budget potential, and decision-making authority
Outreach and Engagement Engage stakeholders to understand operational challenges (surveillance, mapping, inspection, compliance) Clearly communicate SurveyCopter’s solution-oriented value (not just drones, but outcomes) Schedule high-quality discovery meetings for Pre-Sales / Sales teams Maintain structured follow-ups for long-cycle deals (typical in this industry)
Collaboration with Sales Team Work closely with Pre-Sales and Technical Teams to align on opportunity qualification Ensure smooth handover with complete context: use case, stakeholders, timelines, and constraints Support early-stage deal shaping where required Data Management and Reporting Maintain clean and accurate records in CRM Track outreach, pipeline movement, and conversion metrics Provide weekly insights on market response and opportunity trends
Market and Product Knowledge Develop a strong understanding of: UAV platforms and payload capabilities Regulatory environment (DGCA / aviation norms where applicable) Industry-specific applications (defense, maritime, infrastructure, agriculture, etc.) Stay updated on competitors and evolving drone regulations
B - Skills / Attributes
Required Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders (not just mid-level buyers)
Proven ability in cold outreach and strategic prospecting Ability to understand and sell technical, solution-driven offerings High ownership mindset — this role needs discipline, not just energy Strong research and account-mapping skills Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) Structured, organized, and consistent in follow-ups
C - Qualifications / Experience Required MBA / BE (Civil, Mechanical, or related fields preferred)
3–5 years in B2B business development, preferably in drones, geospatial, defense, infrastructure, or enterprise tech Experience working with or selling to government or large enterprises is a strong advantage Exposure to organizations like ESRI, ideaForge, Terra Drone, JLL, CBRE, Bentley, Autodesk, or similar is a plus
D - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Number of high-quality qualified opportunities generated (not just leads) Meetings scheduled with relevant decision-makers Conversion rate from lead → qualified opportunity Pipeline contribution to overall revenue E - Assessment Process Initial Interview:
Communication, clarity, and commercial understanding Assessment Round: Practical sales pitch for a SurveyCopter solution (use-case driven, not generic)
