ABOUT THE ROLE

F5 Global Talent is hiring an experienced Building Energy Modeler to develop and validate whole-building energy models for U.S. commercial projects.

You’ll create baseline and proposed energy models to ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G, model HVAC systems, analyze building envelope and lighting performance, calculate energy-cost savings, and prepare documentation supporting 179D tax incentive requirements.

This is specifically an energy-simulation role — not HVAC design and not field energy auditing. You must be able to take architectural, HVAC, and lighting drawings, turn them into an accurate building model, validate the results, and recognize when a model is wrong.

This is a full-time, remote role for candidates based in India, working U.S. business hours.

IMPORTANT: Hands-on experience with U.S. commercial building projects is required. Experience limited to non-U.S. codes is not sufficient for this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Develop and review baseline and proposed energy models to ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G
- Model HVAC systems including VAV with reheat, chilled-water plants, air-cooled chillers, packaged rooftop units, and heat pumps
- Analyze building envelope and lighting performance
- Perform energy-cost savings analysis comparing baseline and proposed performance
- Prepare documentation supporting 179D tax incentive and deduction requirements
- Translate architectural, HVAC, and lighting drawings into simulation-ready models
- Run model validation and energy-balance checks
- Verify unmet load hours and troubleshoot their causes
- Identify modeling issues and recommend corrections




- Maintain consistent modeling standards across projects
- Coordinate with internal teams to obtain accurate inputs and meet deadlines

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- 2+ years of building energy modeling or energy-simulation experience
- Hands-on experience with U.S. commercial building projects
- Robust knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G methodology
- Experience with 179D energy modeling and compliance analysis
- Whole-building baseline and proposed-case modeling experience
- Experience modeling a range of commercial HVAC systems
- Building envelope and lighting performance analysis experience
- Energy-cost savings analysis experience
- Strong model-validation and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with energy-balance checks and unmet-load-hour verification
- Hands-on experience with eQuest
- Hands-on experience with DesignBuilder
- Experience with EPFace
- Bluebeam Revu experience
- Ability to interpret architectural, HVAC, and lighting drawings
- Strong written and spoken English

NICE TO HAVE

- QA/QC review experience
- Experience mentoring other energy modelers
- Experience improving or standardizing energy-modeling workflows
- HVAC optimization and energy-efficiency studies
- Experience across hospitality, educational, and other commercial building types
