Purpose of the Job To serve as the responsible utility operator by ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of boilers and associated utility systems, maintaining statutory compliance, optimizing steam generation and utility consumption, and supporting continuous manufacturing operations to meet production requirements at Paracoat Products Ltd

Key Challenges in the Role / Work Environment

- Ensuring Uninterrupted Steam Supply: -Maintaining continuous boiler operation to support production requirements without disruptions or downtime.
- Managing Boiler Safety and Statutory Compliance: -Ensuring strict adherence to Boiler Act regulations, safety procedures, and operational standards while handling high-pressure steam systems.
- Handling Equipment Breakdowns and Operational Abnormalities: -Identifying and responding promptly to boiler, pump, valve, burner, and utility equipment failures to minimize production impact.
- Responding to Emergency Situations: -Handling steam leaks, pressure fluctuations, equipment failures, and other utility-related emergencies while ensuring personnel and equipment safety.
- Adapting to Harsh Utility Plant Conditions: -Working in high-temperature environments with rotating equipment, pressurized systems, chemicals, and utility infrastructure while maintaining safety and operational efficiency.
- Driving Continuous Improvement: -Supporting TPM, 5S, energy conservation, and utility efficiency initiatives without affecting daily boiler operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor boiler systems to ensure uninterrupted steam generation and supply for production and utility requirements.
- Maintain boiler operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, water level, fuel feed, and steam output within prescribed limits.
- Conduct routine inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, pipelines, burners, and auxiliary equipment to identify abnormalities and ensure safe operation.




- Monitor and maintain boiler water quality through regular testing, chemical dosing, and adherence to water treatment standards.
- Ensure compliance with Boiler Act regulations, statutory requirements, safety procedures, and company operational standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, steam supply disruptions, and operational abnormalities and coordinate with the Maintenance team for timely resolution.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Monitor fuel consumption and utility performance, and support initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing operating costs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation including boiler logbooks, shift reports, utility consumption data, maintenance records, and statutory registers.
- Identify and report safety hazards, steam leaks, pressure variations, and equipment defects, and take immediate corrective actions as per established procedures.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S practices within the boiler house and utility areas.

Qualification

- First Class Boiler Attendant Certificate issued by the Competent Authority (Mandatory).
- ITI in Fitter / Mechanical / Boiler Attendant Trade or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Boiler Act regulations, safety standards, and utility operations.

Experience

- 45 years of experience as a Boiler Attendant / Boiler Operator in a manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on experience in operating steam boilers, thermic fluid heaters, water treatment systems, pumps, compressors, and utility equipment.
- Experience in monitoring boiler parameters, bricket consumption, steam generation, and utility performance.
- Working knowledge of boiler water treatment, preventive maintenance, energy conservation, and utility management.
- Experience in maintaining statutory records, logbooks, and compliance documentation related to boiler operations.
- Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Safety Management Systems, and EHS practices.
