Senior PostgreSQL Development DBA with strong Azure experience who can hit the ground running in a high-impact, production-critical environment.
This role combines database development and DBA responsibilities. The ideal candidate should be able to rapidly assess systems, optimize performance, and implement scalable, production-grade database solutions in Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Bridge application development and database performance.
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and locking issues.
- Work with the development team to optimize schemas, indexing, and queries.
- Perform advanced PostgreSQL database tuning.
- Recommend best practices for Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
- Discuss and recommend strategies for partitioning, data archiving, and retention.
- Collaborate with application development teams to optimize data-access patterns.
- Work with GitLab CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
- Review and recommend robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
- Oversee security, performance, and data-integrity best practices.
Required Skills and Experience
- PostgreSQL Expertise
- 7 to 10+ years of PostgreSQL experience in production environments.
- Strong database development background.
- Advanced performance-tuning expertise.
- Azure Experience
- Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL Versatile Server.
