About the Role To support our continued growth, we are hiring an experienced CAD Drafter to join our engineering team — based in Kolkata and working India business hours as part of our permits team. This role focuses primarily on overhead plan views and will expand as needed; depending on experience, it may grow to include additional drafting or design duties for civil engineering projects in commercial development. Beyond drafting, you will keep our system of record up to date on the progress of your assigned workload, and coordinate closely — largely through transparent written handoffs — with our Irvine, CA-based design and project management staff.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Production





- Provide CAD drafting support to a technical engineering team, working under general supervision with work subject to supervisory review; report to the Project Manager or department head.
- Perform skilled drafting work in preparing preliminary and final engineering drawings, plans, maps, and exhibits.
- Transform initial rough designs into working documents using CAD software; review drawings and designs for adherence to established specifications and standards, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
- Produce finished drawings from preliminary design sketches and instructions provided by design staff.
- Produce detailed layouts from information furnished by design staff.

Coordination & Records

- Become proficient with the company's CAD organisational systems and standards.
- Address plan check comments, including basic plan-view-level comments, text edits, and attribute edits.
- Manipulate existing information to prepare composite exhibits and plans.
- Prepare presentation-type exhibits using proposed information from other consultants or markups from design staff.
- Keep the company system of record up to date on progress against your assigned workload.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as required,



such as research and construction document scans and copies.

Requirements
- 1–2 years of AutoCAD experience.
- Proven work experience as a Drafter or in a similar role.
- Knowledgeable in architectural and structural working drawings.
- Experience converting as-built field markups into CAD drawings.
- Ability to prepare drawings to company and/or client standards.
- Strong written and oral communication skills — particularly written, to coordinate clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally and globally.

Preferred Skills
- Experience within dry utilities, Caltrans, or railroad agencies.
- Familiarity with California state safety and structural regulations.
- Prior experience supporting US-based civil engineering or utility clients remotely.

Experience 1–2 years of hands-on AutoCAD experience, with proven work experience as a Drafter or in a similar role.

Education

Bachelor's degree, or education and training equivalent to a high school education plus two years of technical or trade school training, preferred.
