Designation: Associate Consultant Haematology

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Associate Consultant Haematology to join our hospital’s Clinical Haematology team. The incumbent will be responsible for the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of patients with benign and malignant haematological disorders, while working closely with senior consultants and multidisciplinary teams. The role may also involve bone marrow procedures, transfusion support, chemotherapy-related care, and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) services, depending on departmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Evaluate and manage patients with haematological disorders, including anaemia, bleeding and clotting disorders, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood-related conditions.
- Provide OPD, IPD, emergency, and follow-up care to haematology patients.
- Review and interpret CBC, peripheral smear, coagulation profile, bone marrow studies, flow cytometry, cytogenetic and molecular investigations.
- Assist in and perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsy as per clinical requirements.
- Support diagnosis and treatment planning for haematological malignancies.
- Assist in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusion support, and other haematology treatment protocols.
- Monitor patients for treatment response, adverse effects, infections, bleeding, and other complications.
- Support evaluation and management of patients undergoing Bone Marrow Transplant / stem cell transplantation, where applicable.
- Coordinate with Blood Bank, Pathology, Laboratory, ICU, Infectious Disease, Pharmacy, Nursing, and other clinical departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and tumour boards.




- Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, procedures, risks, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, clinical notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and documentation in the hospital information system.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection-control practices, transfusion safety, and patient-safety standards.
- Participate in departmental academic activities, CMEs, audits, teaching, research, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and guide junior doctors and clinical staff, as required.
- Ensure ethical, evidence-based, and patient-centric clinical practice.

Qualification

- MBBS with MD/DNB in Medicine/Pediatrics with DM/DNB/DrNB in Clinical Haematology/Haematology, as applicable.
- Valid registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
- Additional exposure or training in Bone Marrow Transplantation will be an advantage.

Experience

- 1–3 years of post-qualification experience in Clinical Haematology/Haemato-Oncology/BMT is preferred.
- Fresh DM/DNB candidates with relevant clinical exposure may also be considered, depending on hospital requirements.
