Job Purpose The Senior Product Manager for Commercial Cards will be responsible for strategic development in form of the build from scratch in terms of product, customer journey, technology, management, and growth of DBS's Commercial Cards product portfolio within the dynamic Indian market. This role involves driving product innovation, enhancing customer experience, ensuring market competitiveness, and achieving business objectives while adhering to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Indian commercial cards landscape, including emerging payment trends like UPI, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in product lifecycle management within the Indian financial services industry.
Key Accountabilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for Commercial Cards in India, aligning with the bank's overall business goals, market trends, and RBI's directives on card issuance and conduct of business.
- Product Development & Enhancement: Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and business case creation to launch and post-launch performance monitoring for new and enhanced commercial card products, considering specific Indian market needs and regulatory requirements. This includes features like online, NFC, and international transaction controls as per RBI mandates.
- Market Competitiveness & Customer Experience: Continuously monitor market trends, competitor offerings from other Indian private banks (e.g., ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank), and customer feedback to ensure commercial card products remain competitive and deliver a superior customer experience, potentially integrating with indigenous payment systems like RuPay.
- Revenue Growth & Profitability: Drive the revenue growth and profitability of the commercial cards portfolio through effective pricing strategies, usage initiatives, and targeted campaigns, while also navigating any RBI restrictions on incentives or specific card offerings.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure all commercial card products and processes adhere to internal policies, regulatory requirements set by the RBI, and industry best practices for risk management and compliance, including mandates on card activation and usage.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation in the Indian commercial cards space,
staying abreast of developments in digital payments and fintech landscape in India.
- Define product requirements, features, and functionalities based on customer needs, market analysis, and business objectives, incorporating features like spend management, online access, and integration with treasury services relevant to Indian businesses.
- Collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders including Sales, Technology & Operations, Credit, Legal & Compliance, Marketing, and Customer Service to ensure successful product delivery and management, specifically addressing Indian market nuances.
- Manage product pricing, cost analysis, and profitability for the commercial cards portfolio, considering the competitive pricing landscape among Indian private banks.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for current product launches and enhancements, working with marketing teams and ensuring compliance with advertising guidelines in India.
- Monitor product performance metrics, analyze data, and generate insights to optimize product offerings and business outcomes, leveraging advanced analytics tools common in the Indian banking sector.
- Oversee the resolution of product-related issues and escalations, working with relevant teams and ensuring adherence to Indian customer grievance redressal mechanisms.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, payment trends (e.g., UPI, RuPay), and regulatory changes impacting the commercial cards industry in India, such as changes in online transaction rules or card issuance.
- Represent DBS at industry forums and events related to commercial cards in India, contributing to the bank's thought leadership in the sector.
Requirements
- Rich experience in product management within the financial services industry in India, with significant experience specifically in Commercial Cards or Corporate Payments for an Indian private bank.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and managing financial products throughout their lifecycle in the Indian market.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business growth and profitability for a product portfolio, considering the competitive landscape and regulatory environment of Indian banking.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships, including interactions with payment networks like Visa, Mastercard, and RuPay in India.
Technical/Professional Knowledge And Experience
- In-depth knowledge of commercial card products, Indian payment systems (e.g., RuPay, UPI), and industry best practices (e.g., Visa, Mastercard schemes) within India.
- Strong understanding of corporate treasury needs, procure-to-pay processes, and working capital solutions relevant to Indian businesses.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies to interpret market trends and product performance in the Indian context.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements applicable to commercial card products in India, particularly RBI circulars and Master Directions.
Education / Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
- Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Product Manager, PMP) are a plus, especially those with a focus on the Indian financial market.
