How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities)
Role Summary The Architect will play a pivotal role in driving our cloud, infrastructure, security, and product platform modernization efforts. This role blends deep technical architecture with strategic product partnerships, shaping scalable systems and influencing the roadmap that powers our future. The Architect must be self-motivated, responsive, and detail oriented with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Role Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Develop and maintain architectural blueprints for software solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
- Cloud Integration: Leverage AWS services to design and implement cloud-based solutions, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ROSA and more.
- Engineering Excellence: Lead and model high-quality software development practices, ensuring code quality and best practices across assigned projects.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and operations, to define business needs and ensure seamless integration and delivery of software solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring applications run efficiently at scale.
- Security: Implement security best practices to protect data and applications, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, development processes, and operational procedures.
- Keeping abreast of, recommending and driving new technologies towards implementation and adoption.
- AI Architecture: Define AI/ML architectural patterns and guardrails for the portfolio, including evaluation and selection of GenAI platforms, LLM integration approaches, and agentic frameworks.
- AI-Assisted Development: Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tooling across engineering teams.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- 14+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and cloud‑native systems.
- Experience in the architecture and design of enterprise software solutions, applications, integrations, security and platform engineering is required.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff Software Engineers with best practices and leadership.
- Strong hands‑on expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable backend services.
- Experience with monitoring and APM tools such as Dynatrace and CloudWatch.
- Deep knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes/ROSA, automation, CI/CD, and reliability engineering.
- Strong grounding in security architecture, including secure design patterns, cloud security controls, and compliance‑aligned engineering practices.
- Expertise in scalable RDBMS such as Oracle or Exadata, including deployments and performance optimization on AWS.
- Experience architecting solutions that incorporate AI/ML or GenAI capabilities, including LLM integration, agentic workflows, or AI-powered features.
- Familiarity with AWS AI/ML services at a design and evaluation level, including Bedrock, SageMaker, and AgentCore.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering teams to drive execution and delivery of business value.
- Proven success leading large architecture deliveries and modernization programs.
- Strong product mindset, domain understanding, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Must have excellent planning and organizational skills, robust verbal, written communication, and facilitation skills.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical field is preferred.
- Experience working in an airline technology environment is preferred.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- Advanced knowledge of Java or another enterprise programming language and frameworks.
- Experience with modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.)
- Background in DevOps and SRE practices.
- Experience working with agentic frameworks such as AWS Strands, Google ADK, LangChain, or LangGraph.
- Experience designing MCP-based integrations to connect AI agents with enterprise tools and data sources.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering principles, RAG architecture, or multi-agent orchestration patterns.
- Ability to influence product strategy and long‑term technology direction.
