Role & responsibilities

1. Payroll

- End to end process of Payroll activities including:
- Accurately process fortnightly and/or monthly payroll within the specified timeframe and in accordance with statutory requirements;
- Ensure that all payroll information on the computerized payroll system is maintained accurately and prepare reports as required.
- Calculate and process all salary and wages increases (including current hires and backpay if required), leave entitlements, other adjustments and termination payments in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Facilitate the electronic transfer of salaries and wages to financial institutions and other deduction recipients.
- Information - Maintenance of payroll information and records through appropriate systems including vendor output; collection, calculation, and entering of data.
- Timeliness - Ensure on time payment to employees (including Full & Final Settlement (F&F;) processing), superannuation companies and other agencies
- Automation of processes where possible.
- Reporting - Prepare reports as required, including but not limited to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, reconciliation files and other statutory and discretional additions and deductions.
- Statutory compliance - Ensure statutory liabilities are met including but not limited to payroll tax, income tax, fringe benefits tax, superannuation and workers compensation payments.
- Balance payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure payroll guidelines (policies and procedures) are accurate, up-to-date and promote effective and efficient practices.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information.




- Work to achieve the delivery of cyclical calendar of deliverables.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with regulations and legislation.
- Ensure a high standard of customer service in line with agreed SLA (service level agreements)
- Reporting - ensure day-to-day reporting requirements are met; ad hoc reports are provided to stakeholders in accordance with confidentiality requirements.
- Establish effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Ensure Sarbanes & Oxley (SOX) and other control processes are followed.
- Ensure all external and internal audit requirements are addressed in a timely and complete manner.

Preferred candidate profile Skills, Experience and Competencies:

Essential:

- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-5 year of relevant experience in payroll processing or payroll operations is desirable.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of payroll, superannuation, leave related regulations.
- A strong service approach, quality control is key.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills, with high degree of confidence in MS Excel.
- Effective organization skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Flexible and adaptable attitude amidst an environment of constant change.
- Knowledge of contemporary Payroll principles, practices, and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Courteous assertiveness.
- Ability to negotiate and influence.

Desirable / Preferred:

- Hands-on experience with payroll systems, preferably ADP PayForce.
- Experience with Workday is desirable.
- Candidates with a previous experience in Australia and New Zealand region payroll operations are preferred.
