The Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG) at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is an interdisciplinary, translational research centre that researches, develops and deploys data, digital infrastructure and AI innovation towards creating public-good outcomes across sectors.
We are looking for talented, motivated interns to work on advancing our state-of-the-art mobility/transportation platform, using simulation, machine learning and Digital Twin approaches.
The intention of this platform is to enable better transportation outcomes in the Indian context – for example, optimizing traffic signalling and reducing wait times; aiding planning of public transport; enabling end to end integrated journeys across transport modes; enabling students and researchers to explore and model various scenarios, etc.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Interested in a growth opportunities trajectory in mobility and transportation systems, applying state-of-the-art approaches in the Indian context. Exposure to Machine Learning, AI and Digital Twin technologies Talented recent graduates from relevant streams are encouraged to apply Coachable early career applicants who can effectively leverage deep expertise from industry and academic experts A proactive,
detail-oriented and meticulous person who can thrive on challenging product development tasks Good teamwork skills Very strong programming skills especially in Python and C++ A history of building your own projects, and self-learning the skills required for the same.
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS
Are you able to program fluently in the following: C++, Python, C? Can you quickly develop proof-of-concept/prototype demos? Do you have exposure to version control, Git and GitHub? Do you have a good understanding of how Machine Learning works and is applied practically? Have you worked on previous projects (e.g. during college, passion projects, internships and hackathons) where you worked on the above? Given a technical “challenge” and an “approach” can you work autonomously towards a “solution” – with the appropriate guidance? Ability to contribute to research papers towards demonstrating scientific and technical credibility of the approach is a bonus. Mathematical talent is a bonus
