About The Company Emergence is a strategic holding company supported by the Pritzker Organization, dedicated to acquiring and scaling innovative, category-defining software businesses. Our focus is on building focused portfolios complemented by specialized operational teams that combine rigorous operational practices with a growth-oriented investment philosophy.
We are committed to driving sustainable revenue growth, enhancing profitability, and delivering industry-leading customer outcomes across our platform companies. Our approach emphasizes creating scalable financial and operational frameworks that support long-term success and value creation.
About The Role The Senior Staff Accountant at Emergence plays a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining robust financial accounting practices across multiple SaaS businesses within our portfolio. This position involves overseeing the complete month-end closing process, ensuring compliance with U.S.
GAAP standards, and providing insightful variance analysis to support strategic decision-making. The role requires a proactive individual who can identify process inefficiencies, implement automation solutions, and mentor junior team members to foster a high-performing accounting environment. As a key contributor to our financial operations, you will collaborate closely with the FP&A; team to develop accurate budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts, ensuring alignment with operational and working capital dynamics.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, particularly within SaaS revenue recognition, including ASC 606 and deferred revenue management. Demonstrated experience leading month-end close cycles and preparing comprehensive financial statements independently is essential.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling, Power Query, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and scenario analysis, is required. Hands-on experience with modern ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly preferred. Candidates should have excellent variance analysis skills, with the ability to translate financial results into clear business insights for non-accountants.
Prior success in identifying operational inefficiencies and implementing measurable improvements, along with mentoring junior accountants, will distinguish applicants.
Qualifications such as CA or CMA, with 2-5+ years of relevant experience, particularly in PE-backed environments or multi-business settings, will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Execute the complete month-end close process, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and accruals, adhering to U.S. GAAP standards.
- Document all significant balance sheet variances exceeding $50K, providing detailed explanations linked to operational drivers.
- Perform variance analysis across monthly, quarterly, and annual budget cycles to identify root causes and inform management decisions.
- Collaborate with the FP&A; team to develop and refine annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts, ensuring they reflect accrual and working capital considerations.
- Mentor and guide junior staff accountants on complex accounting entries, reconciliation methodologies, and U.S. GAAP treatment decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, develop documented ROI proposals, and lead the implementation of automation and efficiency initiatives across the accounting team.
- Ensure all financial data and reporting are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and resolving issues proactively.
Benefits Emergence offers a competitive monthly salary of ₹21,000, along with the flexibility of a remote work environment based in India. The benefits package is tailored to support our employees' well-being and professional growth, with details to be determined by the company. This role provides a unique opportunity to build and refine core accounting infrastructure for a rapidly growing PE-backed software platform. You will work in a dynamic environment that values innovation, continuous improvement, and leadership development, offering exposure to high-impact financial processes and strategic initiatives within the tech industry.
