About the Role

Hospedia is looking for a technically strong 2D & 3D Product Designer to support the development and manufacturing of medical equipment, particularly OT/Surgical Lights, Examination Lights, Surgical Tables and related components.

The candidate will be responsible for converting product concepts into accurate 3D models, production-ready drawings, assemblies and manufacturing documentation while coordinating closely with Product Development, Engineering, Production, Purchase and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

1. 3D Product Design

- Create detailed 3D models of medical equipment and components.
- Develop complete assemblies, sub-assemblies and exploded views.
- Design sheet-metal, plastic, aluminium, die-cast and machined components.
- Modify existing products based on engineering and production requirements.
- Ensure proper fitment, clearances, mounting arrangements and assembly feasibility.
- Support new product development from concept to production.

2. 2D Manufacturing Drawings

- Prepare accurate 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
- Define dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, surface finish and other manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare drawings suitable for CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet-metal fabrication, injection moulding, die casting and other manufacturing processes.
- Create detailed assembly and part drawings.
- Maintain proper drawing revision control.

3. Product Development Support





- Convert concepts and sketches into manufacturable designs.
- Work with the Product Development team to improve existing products.
- Support prototype development and engineering changes.
- Identify design issues before production and suggest practical solutions.
- Assist in design standardisation and component commonisation.

4. Production & Vendor Coordination

- Coordinate with production, purchase and vendors regarding drawings and technical requirements.
- Clarify manufacturing queries related to dimensions, tolerances and assembly.
- Review vendor samples against approved drawings.
- Incorporate design changes based on prototype and production feedback.
- Ensure that the released drawing matches the actual approved component.

5. BOM & Documentation

- Prepare and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Maintain part numbers, drawing numbers and revision history.
- Prepare exploded views and assembly documentation where required.
- Maintain an organised library of 2D drawings and 3D CAD files.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D CAD modelling.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
- Good understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Knowledge of sheet-metal, plastic, machining and fabrication design.




- Good understanding of tolerances, fits, fasteners and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to create production-ready drawings independently.
- Strong attention to dimensional accuracy and design details.

Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following will be an advantage:

- Medical equipment
- Surgical / OT Lights
- Surgical tables
- LED lighting products
- Sheet-metal products
- Injection-moulded components
- Aluminium extrusion/die casting
- Precision mechanical assemblies
- Product development / R&D;

Important Qualities The candidate should be:

- Highly detail-oriented
- Practical and manufacturing-oriented
- Good at problem solving
- Able to work independently
- Comfortable coordinating with vendors and production teams
- Capable of working on multiple product-development projects simultaneously
- Willing to take ownership from design prototype production

- Accuracy of 2D manufacturing drawings
- Quality and manufacturability of 3D models
- Timely completion of assigned designs
- Reduction in design-related production issues
- Accuracy of BOM and part documentation
- Timely implementation of engineering changes
- Reduction in unnecessary component variation
- Successful transition of new designs from prototype to production

Qualification Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design or equivalent.

Preferred Candidate: Someone who is not only a CAD operator but can understand how a product is manufactured, assembled and improved and can take responsibility for converting an idea into a production-ready product.
