Job Description
Role: Engineer - Supplier Quality (Associate Manager - Supplier Quality)
Location: Ather Factory 3.0, Sambhajinagar (AURIC)
Reporting to: Group Lead of Supplier Quality
Team name: Supplier Quality
About the Team and the Role:
The Supplier Quality team at Ather is responsible for driving the overall quality strategy for all parts and assemblies, ensuring that commodity parts meet stringent quality, performance, and compliance requirements from initial design through mass production.
This is a high-stakes middle Management role at Ather’s Factory 3.0 , requiring a blend of "boots-on-the-ground" fire-fighting and strategic supplier handling. Since you'll be managing both Mechanical and E&E; (Electrical & Electronics) commodities, the expectations for technical breadth are significant.
Will lead a small team of Supplier Quality Engineers to minimize supply chain risk and drive continuous improvement through advanced methodologies and robust supplier management.
Responsibilities:
Crisis Management: Serving as the First Escalation Point for all Bought Out Parts (BOP). You aren't just reporting issues; you're leading the containment.
Operational Excellence: Improving the Straight Pass Ratio (SPR). This means ensuring parts fed to the Vehicle and Battery lines are so positive they don't need rework or inspection pauses on the line.
Closing the Loop: Heavy emphasis on 8D and CAPA. want systemic root cause resolution that prevents recurrence.
SPOC for Suppliers / Suppliers QRE to define the Problem & quantum of the failure.
Keeping track of all Containment actions / ICAs & closure.




FTRs for the CAPA parts at Factory & effectiveness monitoring.
Work hand in hand with IQC, IPQC, Plant Quality & Logistics teams for sustenance of Supplier Parts.
Impact analysis for Change Requests
Lead a small team of Supplier Quality Engineers, setting clear objectives and best-in-class performance targets for commodity Parts quality.
Lead the evaluation, qualification, and selection process for new suppliers, focusing on QMS and manufacturing capabilities.
Conduct complex supplier system, process, and product audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and regulatory standards.
Execute the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Experience and Qualifications:
B Tech or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics
Experience of 8~12 years in Automotive OEM
Must Have Competencies:
Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in conducting detailed Root Cause Analysis and implementing effective 8D problem-solving methodologies.
Apply expert knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA to identify and mitigate risks during the design and manufacturing stages.
Execute advanced level Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure supplier manufacturing readiness and part compliance.




Apply advanced auditing skills in IATF and ISO standards to evaluate supplier Quality Management Systems and process compliance.
Hands-on experience in Metrology, MSA, SPC, Relation Gauges and GD&T.;
Advanced knowledge of a few of the commodities in Mechanical and Electrical-Electronics.
Good in communications Skills and Time Management.
Good to have Competencies:
Adjusting to change and giving Support to the cross functional team (CFT)
Collecting, Stratifying Data and Data interpretation to draw conclusions.
