TheElectrical Senior Design Engineer Solar BESS will serve as thetechnical authority for the electrical engineering and system integration ofutility-scale or CI solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems. This rolefocuses on the complex electrical architecture of hybrid plantsspanning fromDC generation and electrochemical storage up to high-voltage grid substations.You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical designs are optimizedfor efficiency, safety, and absolute compliance with utility grid codes.

KeyResponsibilities

1.Advanced Electrical Engineering System Architecture

1. Electrical Architecture: Design complex AC-coupled and DC-coupled utility-scale Solar-plus-BESS plant topologies.

2. Core Calculations: Perform and validate critical electrical calculations including AC/DC cable sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, transformer sizing, earthing/grounding grids, and lightning protection.

3. Power System Analysis: Conduct or supervise system studies using software like load flow analysis, short-circuit studies, relay coordination, and arc flash analysis.

4. Engineering Deliverables: Author and review comprehensive electrical engineering packages: Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Three Line Diagrams (3LD), schematic drawings for control protection, and cable trench/routing layouts.

2.Equipment Selection Technical Procurement

1. Specification Authoring: Define technical specifications and datasheets for key electrical equipment: Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Central/String Inverters, MV/HV Transformers, Switchgears, Ring Main Units (RMU), and Battery Enclosures.

2. Vendor Qualification: Lead the technical evaluation of bids from OEMs and EPC contractors. Review and approve vendor drawings (e.g., GA drawings, control schematics) to ensure alignment with project requirements.

3. BOM Management: Ownership of the electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) from the conceptual phase to Good-for-Construction (GFC).

3.Substation, Interconnection Grid Compliance

1.



Grid Interconnection: Lead the technical design of the pooling substation and overhead/underground transmission line interfaces up to the Point of Interconnection (POI).

2. Compliance Standards: Ensure all designs comply strictly with regional Grid Codes, utility interconnect mandates, and international standards such as IEEE 1547, UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, IEC 62933, and local electrical codes.

3. Protection Control: Design protection schemes for the BESS and Solar farm interface, defining settings for numerical protection relays.

4.Cross-Functional Leadership

1. Interface Coordination: Manage critical electrical interfaces between the PV system, BESS containers, Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA, and the utility substation.

2. Mentorship Quality Control: Establish internal electrical design standards, templates, and checklists. Peer-review the work of junior engineers and CAD designers to ensure zero-error delivery.

RequiredSkills Qualifications

TechnicalCompetencies

1. Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and PVsyst. Hands-on experience with power system simulation software like ETAP, CYME, or DigSILENT / PSCAD is highly critical.

2. BESS Engineering: Deep understanding of battery container internal electrical architecture, auxiliary power distribution, HVAC/thermal load impacts, and fire suppression integration.

3. Standards Knowledge: Solid familiarity with high-voltage and medium-voltage substation design practices.

SoftSkills

1. Strong technical leadership capability with an ability to justify design choices to regulatory bodies and high-profile clients.

2. Exceptionally detail-oriented with a rigorous focus on safety, reliability, and code compliance.

3. Effective communication skills to bridge the gap between software developers (EMS/SCADA) and physical site construction teams.
