Physiotherapist Anorectal & Post-Operative Rehabilitation

About the Role
Healing Hands Clinic is looking for a skilled and compassionate Physiotherapist to support patients undergoing anorectal and proctological procedures.
The role involves assessing patients, providing appropriate physiotherapy and rehabilitation, educating patients about recovery, and working closely with proctology surgeons and the clinical team to ensure a smooth post-operative recovery.
The ideal candidate should have good clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and an empathetic approach toward patients dealing with sensitive anorectal conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment
- Assess patients before and after anorectal procedures as per clinical requirements.
- Understand the patient's pain, mobility, functional limitations and recovery status.
- Identify rehabilitation needs and prepare an appropriate physiotherapy plan.
- Maintain proper documentation of assessment and treatment.
Post-Operative Rehabilitation
- Provide physiotherapy interventions as advised by the treating consultant.
- Guide patients regarding safe mobility and activity after surgery.
- Assist patients with recovery following anorectal procedures.
- Monitor progress and communicate relevant observations to the consultant.
Pelvic Floor & Functional Rehabilitation
- Provide appropriate pelvic-floor rehabilitation and exercises where clinically indicated.
- Educate patients regarding pelvic-floor muscle awareness and strengthening.
- Guide patients regarding posture, mobility, breathing and functional exercises.
- Support patients with bowel-related functional rehabilitation where appropriate and within the scope of practice.
Patient Education & Counselling
- Explain exercises and rehabilitation protocols clearly to patients.
- Educate patients regarding home exercises and recovery precautions.
- Encourage compliance with prescribed rehabilitation programs.
- Handle sensitive patient concerns with empathy, privacy and professionalism.
Coordination With Clinical Team
- Coordinate with proctology surgeons, nurses and other clinical staff.
- Follow consultant instructions and established clinical protocols.
- Report significant changes or concerns regarding patient recovery to the treating team.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient-care discussions when required.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy (BPT/MPT).
- Valid registration with the appropriate professional body, where applicable.
- Freshers with relevant clinical training may be considered.
- Experience in post-operative rehabilitation, pelvic-floor physiotherapy, or surgical rehabilitation will be an advantage.
- Strong communication and patient counselling skills.
- Comfortable working with patients discussing sensitive anorectal and pelvic-floor concerns.
- Compassionate, professional and patient-centric approach.
- Good clinical observation and documentation skills.
- Willingness to learn specialized anorectal rehabilitation protocols.
