Job Title: Senior Android Developer

Job Purpose:
The position will work primarily on Java/Kotlin-based Android applications, including dual-module architecture, state-machine-driven surgical workflows, camera and native tracking integration, real-time visualization of biomechanical and navigation data, and enterprise deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Android Application Architecture & Development
• Design, develop, maintain, and refactor production-grade Android applications using Java/Kotlin.
• Own development across the wearable navigation application's primary modules, including session setup and intraoperative procedure modules.
• Develop scalable multi-module Android architecture suitable for navigation workflows.
• Implement reusable UI components, application services, data models, and integration interfaces.
• Maintain clean separation between UI, workflow/state management, hardware integration, data processing, and configuration layers.
• Manage Android dependencies, Gradle configuration, build variants, signing, packaging, and release configurations.
• Ensure compatibility with target wearable and hardware platforms.
• Develop applications suitable for constrained, kiosk-style, or enterprise-managed wearable environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5–8 years of professional Android software development experience with production releases.
• Strong professional experience in Android development using Java/Kotlin.
• Proven experience developing complex multi-screen, workflow-driven Android applications.
• Robust experience with multi-module Android architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Android lifecycle, threading,
memory management, and application performance.
• Hands-on experience with Camera2 API.
• Hands-on experience consuming JNI/native libraries within Android applications.
• Experience debugging native crashes and Android application integration issues.
• Experience deploying applications to physical Android devices and hardware.
• Experience with Gradle, Git, profiling, and Android Studio.
• Experience working with hardware- or sensor-driven applications is preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior Android engineers is preferred.
• Experience in medical devices, navigation, robotics, computer vision, AR/VR/XR, or high-availability software will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Android application architecture and multi-module design.
• Strong proficiency in Android Studio and Gradle.

• Experience debugging native crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, and application freezes.
• Experience with Git and structured branching/release practices.
• Experience with Android profiling and performance analysis tools.
• Understanding of real-time data processing and UI update patterns.
• Experience with sensor-driven or hardware-key-based user interfaces.
• Experience with OpenCV Android integration is preferred.
• Experience with OpenGL or AR overlay rendering is preferred.
• Understanding of kiosk, home-launcher, device-owner, or enterprise-managed Android deployment patterns is preferred.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Strong attention to application stability, reliability, performance, and usability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with software, hardware, computer vision, algorithms, QA, systems, and clinical teams.
• Ability to work with physical devices and laboratory navigation systems rather than emulator-only environments.
• Passion for Android engineering, wearable computing, surgical robotics, immersive technologies, and healthcare innovation.
