Job Role: Embedded Firmware Engineer – Automotive
Experience: 3 - 8 Years
Location: Bangalore
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded firmware for automotive ECUs.
- Develop firmware in RTOS environments, managing timing, concurrency, and resource constraints.
- Work on Embedded Linux Kernel programming and low-level firmware development.
- Develop diagnostic and self-test functionality such as POST, BIST, DTCs, and fault handling.
- Implement safe-state and fault-detection mechanisms for automotive systems.
- Develop and debug communication interfaces including CAN, UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Work with CAN/Ethernet communication, including error detection, logging, and diagnostics.
- Support higher-level communication and diagnostics such as TCP/UDP and UDS.
- Develop firmware utilities and stress-test functions for CPU, memory, and communication validation.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, and root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams on unit, integration,
and system-level validation.
- Apply relevant automotive functional safety and security concepts during development.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Embedded Firmware Development.
- Solid programming skills in C/C++.
- Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux Kernel programming.
- Practical experience with FreeRTOS or other RTOS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of CAN, UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Understanding of TCP/UDP and UDS diagnostics.
- Experience with 32-bit ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
- Exposure to NXP S32G/S32K or similar automotive processors is preferred.
- Strong hardware debugging skills using tools such as oscilloscope, multimeter, and power supply.
- Basic understanding of electronics and low-level system debugging.
- Knowledge of Python for automation, tooling, or testing is an advantage.
