Job Summary

n

Amity University Kolkata invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of German . The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching German language and related courses, developing engaging and learner-centred instructional practices, contributing to academic and co-curricular activities, and supporting the University's academic and research objectives.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Teach German language courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, as assigned.
n
- Prepare course plans, lesson materials, assessments, and other teaching resources.
n
- Deliver interactive, communicative, and student-centred German language instruction.
n
- Assess and monitor students' academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
n
- Develop students' proficiency in German language, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and intercultural communication.
n
- Contribute to curriculum development, course design, and academic quality initiatives.
n
- Conduct and publish quality research in German Studies, language education, linguistics, literature, translation, intercultural studies, or related areas.
n
- Participate in seminars, conferences, workshops, guest lectures, and other academic activities.
n
- Mentor and guide students in academic projects and related activities.
n
- Organise and participate in German-language cultural and co-curricular events.
n
- Contribute to departmental, institutional, accreditation,



and administrative responsibilities as required.
n
- Collaborate with faculty members and academic institutions for teaching, research, and international academic initiatives.
n
- Stay updated with contemporary developments and innovative approaches in German language teaching.
n

Eligibility & Qualifications

n

n
- Master's degree in German/German Studies or a relevant discipline from a recognised university, with a strong academic record.
n
- Ph.D. in German/German Studies or a closely related field will be preferred.
n
- Relevant teaching experience at a university/college or higher-education institution will be an advantage.
n
- Demonstrated proficiency in German; CEFR C1/C2 or equivalent proficiency is preferred.
n
- Candidates with experience in teaching German as a foreign language will be given preference.
n
- Evidence of research publications, conference participation, academic projects, or other scholarly contributions will be desirable.
n
- Familiarity with contemporary language-teaching methodologies and digital/technology-enabled learning is preferred.
