About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Controller to take ownership of accounting, financial administration, reporting, internal controls, and overall financial integrity across personal finances, a management company, and related real estate and business entities. The Controller will work closely with the Senior Property Manager and property management team on the financial and asset management aspects of the portfolio. This role will establish reliable accounting processes, checks and balances, and financial controls to ensure that transactions are accurate, properly documented, and recorded under the correct entity and property.

Must-have qualifications

- Proven experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar senior-level accounting role
- Strong hands-on experience managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience managing accounting records across multiple entities, properties, or business units
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks
- Strong understanding of General Ledger (GL) accounting and financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with:
- Bank reconciliations
- Credit card reconciliations
- Loan reconciliations
- Mortgage reconciliations
- Investment reconciliations
- Experience with Accounts Payable, payment processing, and payroll accounting
- Experience with 1099s and tax/compliance support
- Strong understanding of internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial processes




- Experience identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies, unusual transactions, and control issues
- Strong experience maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting schedules, documentation, and financial reports
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of financial responsibilities
- Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to work effectively during Pacific Time business hours

Preferred qualifications

- Experience in real estate accounting or property management accounting
- Experience with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliation
- Experience with property-level accounting
- Experience using Propertyware
- Experience with Quicken or similar personal financial management systems
- Experience with multi-entity accounting
- Experience with accounting system implementation, migration, or transition projects
- Experience with QuickBooks data migration, account mapping, system configuration, testing, and reconciliation
- Experience redesigning accounting processes, workflows, and financial controls
- Experience managing accounting for real estate portfolios and related entities
- Experience working closely with property managers, CPAs, tax professionals, lenders, and financial advisors
