Commis – Indian Cuisine (Kitchen)

Position: Commis Chef (Indian Cuisine)

Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef / Head Chef

Job Summary

The Commis – Indian Cuisine supports the kitchen team in preparing authentic Indian dishes by following standard recipes and hygiene practices. This role is ideal for entry-level chefs looking to build strong foundations in Indian cooking techniques, gravies, and spices.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of Indian dishes including gravies, curries, tandoor items, and rice preparations
Follow standard recipes, portion control, and plating guidelines
Prepare mise en place such as chopping, marinating, grinding spices, and sauce preparation
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work station as per food safety standards
Support senior chefs during service for smooth kitchen operations
Proper handling and storage of raw materials and cooked food
Minimize food wastage and follow FIFO practices
Assist in stock rotation and basic inventory checks
Comply with kitchen SOPs, safety, and hygiene regulations

Skills & Competencies




Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, and cooking methods
Willingness to learn and take instructions
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
Team-oriented with a positive attitude
Valuable time management and discipline

Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in Hotel Management / Culinary Arts preferred
Freshers or 0–2 years of experience in Indian kitchen
Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
