Role & responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures to collect blood specimens from patients.
Verify patient identity and confirm test orders before proceeding with blood collection.
Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling to maintain sample integrity and traceability.
Provide explicit instructions to patients regarding the blood collection process and address any concerns or questions they may have.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including disinfecting equipment and disposing of biohazardous waste according to established protocols.
Utilize appropriate techniques to minimize patient discomfort and ensure a positive experience during blood collection.
Adhere to infection control practices and safety guidelines to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
Follow established procedures for specimen handling, transportation, and storage to maintain sample quality and integrity.
Document all blood collection procedures, including patient information, test orders, and any complications or adverse events encountered.




Collaborate with laboratory staff and other healthcare specialists to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens and delivery of test results.

Preferred candidate profile
Diploma or equivalent required; certification in phlebotomy preferred.
Proven experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures in a healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling, documentation, and record-keeping.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a rapid-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing workload to meet deadlines.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in all aspects of work.
