Role Description The Area Officer – Farm Development (Mithra) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Shirur Kasar. The role involves working closely with local farmers to support the development of organic dairy farms, including guiding them on sustainable farming practices, animal welfare, and feed management.
The Area Officer will facilitate farmer training, monitor farm performance, and help implement Akshayakalpa’s standards for quality, hygiene, and productivity.



Daily responsibilities include visiting farms, collecting data, coordinating with internal teams for resources and support, and ensuring adherence to organic certification requirements.
The role also requires building solid relationships within the farming community and enabling farmer entrepreneurship in alignment with Akshayakalpa’s mission.
Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Annual Giving and Fundraising to support farmer-focused initiatives and community development programs.
- Candidates should possess strong Communication and Philanthropy skills to engage with farming communities and promote ethical, sustainable practices.
- Candidates should possess Research skills to collect, analyze, and use farm-level data for continuous improvement of dairy and farm development processes.
- Relevant experience in agriculture, dairy farming, rural development, or farm advisory roles is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Shirur Kasar, travel within the area, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of organic farming principles, animal husbandry, and local languages is an advantage.
- Minimum of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, rural management, or a related field is preferred.
