Principal Architect

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Principal Architect to lead the technical architecture and evolution of Eicore’s insurance technology platforms. This is a senior, hands-on technology role responsible for defining architectural direction, engineering standards, platform strategy, and key technology decisions. You will work closely with engineering, product, and business leadership while guiding teams through complex technical challenges and ensuring our platforms remain scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.

Responsibilities:

- Own the technical vision and architecture roadmap in partnership with product and business leadership.
- Lead architectural decisions across the monorepo, including schema design, service boundaries, UI strategy, and testing infrastructure.
- Own deployment and infrastructure strategy across Docker, Docker Compose, GitHub Actions CI/CD, and DigitalOcean.
- Define the organisation’s AI/LLM strategy, including Claude and OpenAI integration, model selection, cost governance, and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
- Establish security, data-protection, and compliance practices appropriate for an insurance business.
- Set engineering standards across TypeScript services, Prisma/PostgreSQL, OpenAPI/Zod contracts, React frontends, testing, observability, and code quality.
- Manage, mentor, and grow mid-level and senior engineers through 1:1s, career development, and performance feedback.
- Drive engineering priorities across technical debt, feature development, and long-term platform investment to meet business goals.
- Partner with product, design, actuarial, claims, and other business teams on technology and platform decisions.
- Remain hands-on with critical technical work, prototypes, and high-stakes technical reviews.
- Own team-level planning, estimation, and delivery accountability.

Requirements





- 10 - 15 years of software engineering experience , with strong experience in architecture and technical leadership.
- Strong full-stack technical background in TypeScript and contemporary web architectures .
- Proven experience designing and scaling microservices-based platforms .
- Experience owning CI/CD, containerisation using Docker and Docker Compose, and cloud deployments on DigitalOcean or similar platforms.
- Experience setting direction for AI/LLM integration , including Claude and OpenAI, at a product or platform level.
- Demonstrated success managing, mentoring, and growing engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, API contract design, and testing strategy .
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with architecture and leadership responsibilities.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Bun, Biome, Vite, and modern monorepo tooling .
- Background scaling teams and systems in insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries .
- Familiarity with regulatory and data-protection requirements relevant to financial services in India.
- Experience establishing AI/LLM evaluation and governance practices .
- Experience defining developer-experience and platform-engineering initiatives.
- Track record of establishing E2E and integration testing standards using Playwright and Vitest .
