To have oversight of the medical services functions, requirements, and activities in the division and to provide analysis, guidance, and recommendations pertaining to various functions of medical services.
Responsibilities and Scope
- Ensuring that Air India's Medical Services functions and objectives are met effectively and adequate planning is done for future requirements, as well as for emergency needs.
- Maintaining oversight on compliance for regulatory and legal requirements on aviation medical issues.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders for seamless application of medical issues related policies.
- Evaluating, analyzing, and providing data on various functions and aspects of medical services.
- Preparing budgetary and manpower requirements for medical services and ensuring cost-effective operation of the medical services division.
- Being a member of the medical incident monitoring/investigating team, as required from time to time.
- Providing predictive inputs in relation to medical services functions to departmental meetings.
- Liaising with various internal departments regarding medical issues.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Medical Officer/Chief Manager.
Training Requirements
- Medical Officers will be required to attend trainings/meetings conducted by DGCA in relation to aircrew and cabin crew medical evaluation, pre-flight medical for alcohol breathalyzer policies, etc.,
to gain deeper understanding of the subject.
Job Scope
- First aid training as per DGCA requirements.
- Ensure DGCA policy compliance for pre-flight and post-flight medicals of crew members.
- Evaluating, analyzing, and advising on medical incident reports.
- Fulfilling training requirements of crew members regarding first aid and aviation medical issues.
- Being a member of various departmental meetings on medical issues.
- MEDA case clearance and resolution of customer medical clearance queries.
- Pre-employment medical fitness issuance.
- Class-2 medical fitness requirement for cabin crew.
- Liaising with service providers, regulators, and external safety agencies, on medical matters on behalf of CSQE Department.
- Providing oversight for the smooth operation and/or execution of medical services functions.
- Aircraft medical supplies kits certification.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Medical Service, AI.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Mandatory Training:
- MBBS qualification from an MCI-recognized college/university and valid medical registration with any state medical council of any Indian state.
- Optional Training:
- Appropriate industry-standard training in Aerospace/Aviation Medicine or MD Aerospace Medicine.
- Appropriate training in other fields as determined in conjunction with Head of Medical Service, AI.
