JOB PURPOSE

This role will involve analyzing existing products, identifying cost-saving opportunities, enhancing performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while maintaining product quality and functionality. The engineer will work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to implement cutting-edge cost-reduction strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

P roduct development & VA/VE

- Lead value engineering initiatives in consumer lighting products to optimize cost, material efficiency, and performance.
- Use simulation tools for design validation and use the same for design optimization .
- Analyze product designs and identify opportunities to reduce costs through design modifications, material substitutions, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality, to implement cost-effective solutions without compromising performance and compliance.
- Conduct benchmarking of competitive products and industry trends to identify potential cost-saving techniques.




- Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
- Work closely with suppliers to explore alternative materials and components that offer better cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and validate prototypes to test design changes for cost optimization.
- Ensure all modifications meet regulatory and industry standards (UL, CE, RoHS, etc.).
- Document engineering changes and maintain records of value engineering projects.
- Provide technical expertise in cost analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for proposed design modifications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive innovation in product design and development.
