Job Title: Sr. Business Analyst – Networking & Security
Role/Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst with 12+ years of total experience, including at least 6+ years in a dedicated Business Analyst role, to serve as the requirements and domain expert across converged networking and security engagements. The ideal candidate brings deep working knowledge across networking, identity & access, cloud/edge security, threat detection, and API/integration-heavy security platforms and can translate that domain expertise into clear, well-documented requirements for engineering and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements & Domain Analysis
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements across networking and security domains, partnering closely with engineering, architecture, and product teams.
- Translate evolving priorities - including the shift toward identity-centric security, Zero Trust, and converged networking/security - into clear requirements, user stories, and process/data-flow documentation.
- Conduct gap analysis between current platform capabilities and target-state security/networking architectures.
Cross-Domain Subject Matter Expertise
- Maintain working expertise in core networking – switches, routers, edge devices, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
- Maintain working expertise in Identity & Access – MFA, SSO, IAM, ZTNA, IGA, SAML, OIDC/OAuth.
- Maintain working expertise in Cloud & Edge Security – SASE, SSE, SWG, CASB, DLP.
- Track vulnerability and threat detection/mitigation capabilities – SIEM/SOAR, vulnerability management, AI-driven security, threat intelligence – and maintain awareness of Splunk's role within the broader security analytics stack.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant compliance regimes (FedRAMP, FIPS), frameworks (NIST, SASE, XDR, MITRE ATT&CK;), and standards (SAML, OIDC/OAuth, SCIM) that shape product and platform requirements.
API & Integration Requirements
- Read and interpret API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger, RAML, etc.) to understand available endpoints, data models, and integration constraints across networking and security platforms.
- Document integration requirements for REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven interfaces, particularly for API-heavy domains such as identity fabric, SIEM/SOAR, and IAM platforms.
- Partner with architects and engineers to define data flows,
authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth/OIDC token flows, API keys), and error-handling expectations for cross-system integrations.
Stakeholder & Backlog Support
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders, security/network SMEs, and delivery/engineering teams, ensuring requirements are accurately understood and reflected in planning.
- Support the Product Owner/Product Manager by writing well-structured epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria for backlog grooming.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews) from a requirements and analysis perspective.
Market & Competitive Awareness
- Monitor the competitive landscape (Okta, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto/Prisma, Zscaler, Microsoft, etc.) and synthesize insights on positioning, feature gaps, and market trends relevant to the networking/security portfolio.
- Support roadmap and prioritization discussions with market and competitive research.
Documentation & Communication
- Produce clear business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and data-flow diagrams.
- Communicate findings, requirements, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical/executive stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills:
- 12+ years of total experience, including 6+ years specifically in a Business Analyst role, supporting networking and/or cybersecurity products or platforms.
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts: switching, routing, edge devices, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
- Working knowledge of Identity & Access Management concepts: MFA, SSO, IAM, ZTNA, IGA, and standards such as SAML and OIDC/OAuth.
- Familiarity with Cloud & Edge Security concepts: SASE, SSE, SWG, CASB, DLP.
- Understanding of threat detection and vulnerability management concepts: SIEM/SOAR, threat intelligence, vulnerability management.
- Ability to read and interpret API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger, RAML, etc.) and document REST/webhook-based integration requirements,
particularly for API-heavy domains such as identity and SIEM/SOAR platforms.
- Strong requirements elicitation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable interfacing with engineering, architecture, product, and business teams.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments, writing user stories/acceptance criteria, and supporting backlog grooming.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Proficiency with requirements/diagramming and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, Miro, or Lucidchart.
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Awareness of Splunk's security/observability capabilities, particularly given its growing integration within major networking/security vendor ecosystems.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks/standards relevant to security products: FedRAMP, FIPS, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK;, XDR, SCIM.
- Knowledge of the competitive landscape in networking/security (Okta, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks/Prisma, Zscaler, Microsoft, etc.).
- Industry certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, Security+, CISSP, or relevant IAM vendor certifications (SailPoint, Saviynt, Okta, Ping, Azure AD).
- Prior experience working with or supporting leading networking/security vendor product ecosystems (e.g., enterprise networking, identity, and security platforms).
- Exposure to AI-driven security capabilities and automation in threat detection/response.
Experience Required:
12+ Years of total experience, including at least 6+ years in a dedicated Business Analyst role, supporting networking and/or security (identity, cloud/edge security, threat detection) product or platform engagements.
Any Other Important Notes:
- This is intended as a single, dedicated Business Analyst role – not a blend of Product Owner and Business Analyst responsibilities. Backlog ownership and roadmap decisions remain with the Product Owner; this role focuses on requirements analysis, documentation, and cross-domain subject matter support.
- Location, shift timings, and travel requirements to be confirmed by the hiring manager based on project/client needs.
- Robust written and verbal English communication skills required, given client-facing and cross-functional engagement.
- Relevant certifications (CBAP/CCBA, Security+, CISSP, or vendor-specific) are a plus but not mandatory.
