nJob Summary
nThe BIW Design Engineer will be responsible for complete BIW structure development, BIW
nlayout preparation, manufacturable design release, and compliance management for vehicle
nbody systems. The role includes concept development, CAD design, packaging feasibility,
nDFM/DFA/DFS activities, GD&T; implementation, manufacturing coordination, cost optimisation,
nand ensuring structural, dimensional, and quality targets are achieved.
nThe engineer must work closely with CAE, manufacturing, tooling, quality, supplier, and vehicle
nintegration teams to ensure robust BIW development from the concept stage to production.

nKey Responsibilities
n1. BIW Structure Development
n-Develop and design BIW structures including:
n-Underbody
n-Side body
n-Roof structure
n-Front end structure
n-Rear end structure
n-Door structure
n-Closures
n-Reinforcements
n-Cross members
n-Mounting brackets
n-Ensure structural integrity, crashworthiness, stiffness, durability, and weight optimisation.
n-Support platform commonisation and carry-over strategy.
n-Maintain proper load paths and section strength.

n2. BIW Layout Preparation
nPrepare a complete BIW layout and package feasibility.
n
nDefine:
n-Section concepts
n-Joining strategy
n-Master sections
n-Datum schemes
n-Tooling direction
n-Assembly feasibility
n-Spot weld accessibility
nEnsure proper packaging clearance with:
n-Chassis
n-Powertrain
n-Interior
n-Electrical systems
n-HVAC
n-Exterior trims

n3. GD&T; and Dimensional Engineering
n-Apply proper GD&T; as per ASME/ISO standards.
nDefine:
n-Datum structures
n-Tolerance stack-up
