We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead / Architect to own the architecture, performance, and scalability of our Spotfire analytics platform used across clinical programs. This is not a dashboard/visualization-building role — our clinical programmers own that layer. Instead, this person will design, harden, and continuously optimize the underlying data and platform foundation that clinical programmers build their visualizations on top of.
The current Spotfire architecture has significant technical debt and performance issues. The immediate mandate is to assess the existing setup, diagnose root causes, and design and execute a revamp plan — with minimal disruption to ongoing clinical programming work.
Key Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end architecture of the Spotfire platform, including its integration with Databricks (primary persistent data layer) and PostgreSQL (transactional data store)
Audit the current Spotfire workplace — data connections, information links, data models, load strategies, server configuration — and identify root causes of poor performance and scalability
Design and drive execution of a revamp/re-architecture plan, balancing quick wins with long-term structural fixes
Define best practices, patterns, and reusable frameworks for performant Spotfire visualizations, and enable clinical programmers to build on top of a stable, well-architected foundation
Architect and optimize data pipelines and query patterns between Databricks, PostgreSQL, and Spotfire (in-database vs. in-memory analysis, data connection modes, caching strategies, incremental refresh, etc.)
