Role Purpose

Own end-to-end design, integration, and commissioning of SCADA and allied systems (SAS, CCTV, WMS, communication infrastructure) across solar, wind, BESS and Hybrid projects, while managing vendor relationships, regulatory interfaces with transmission utilities, and a distributed team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

SCADA Design & Commissioning

- Develop and design complete SCADA/ SAS for Solar, Wind, BESS and Hybrid renewable energy projects.
- Preparation of complete SCADA/SAS system and PPC architecture.
- Develop and design specifications for SCADA servers, workstations, PLCs, RTUs, switches, firewalls and communication equipment.
- Define SCADA requirements for SLDC/RLDC/NLDC telemetry.
- Preparation of overall BOQ for SCADA, SAS, FAS, WMS and CCTV.
- Develop comprehensive SCADA IO List / Tag List for renewable energy projects.
- Review OEM communication maps and ensure all required parameters are included.
- Implementation of SCADA/SAS at site and commissioning of SCADA.
- Technical support for FTC procedures related to SCADA/SAS.
- Lead commissioning lifecycle: FAT, SAT, integration testing, and handover to O&M;
- Define communication protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 61850, DNP3, OPC UA)
- Interface with EPC, OEMs (inverter/turbine vendors), and IT/network teams for seamless data flow into central monitoring platforms
- Define SCADA cybersecurity protocols (network segmentation, firewalls, access control).

Substation Automation System (SAS)

- Design and commission SAS for solar/wind substations — bay control units, protection relays, HMI integration
- Ensure SAS interoperability with SCADA and utility interfacing requirements.
- Develop PPC/HPPC architecture and technical specifications for Solar, Wind and Hybrid Renewable Energy projects.
- Preparation of ADSS/OPGW and communication cable schedule.
- Preparation of system architecture for PLCC and FOTE System.

WMS, CCTV, OFC & ADSS Design

- Design Weather Monitoring Systems (pyranometers,



anemometers, met masts) and integration into SCADA/forecasting systems
- Design site security/surveillance architecture — camera placement, network video recorders, remote viewing integration with central monitoring
- Design OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) and ADSS (All Dielectric Self-Supporting) communication backbone for site-to-substation and substation-to-control-center connectivity

CTU/STU & Regulatory Interactions

- Liaise with Central Transmission Utility (CTU) and State Transmission Utility (STU) teams for data-sharing protocols, connectivity approvals, and compliance
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, RE forecasting/scheduling regulations, and discom/SLDC data feed requirements
- Represent SCADA/communication scope in regulatory audits and inspections.
- Understanding all latest CEA/CTU/PGCIL and State wise specific requirements related to communication system and implement design.

Vendor Evaluation & Management

- Evaluate and empanel SCADA, SAS, CCTV, and communication infrastructure vendors/OEMs
- Negotiate scope, SLAs, and technical specifications; manage vendor performance through project lifecycle
- Build and maintain OEM relationships (Sungrow, Huawei, SMA, Vestas, Suzlon, etc.)

Team Management

- Build, lead, and mentor a team of SCADA/instrumentation engineers and technicians across project sites
- Drive standardization of SOPs, commissioning checklists, and documentation across regions
- Own capability-building and performance management for the team

Required Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation Engineering
- 10–15 years total experience, with 6+ years specifically in SCADA/SAS design and commissioning for renewable energy (solar and/or wind)
- Hands-on experience with SCADA platforms and protocols, SAS integration, and communication network design (OFC/ADSS)
- Working knowledge of CTU/STU processes and RE regulatory landscape in India
- Prior experience managing vendors/OEMs and leading distributed technical teams in an EPC/IPP setting
