Job Summary

Vestas R&D; drives innovation, development, and continuous improvement to create the sustainable power systems of the future, reducing the cost of energy and maximizing value for customers and for Vestas. Within R&D;, the Converter & Electrical (C&E;) Module leads the technology and product development of the wind turbines electrical systems - including frequency converters, converter control, high-voltage transformers, switchgear, cables, and busbars. The module works closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Denmark, Portugal, and India. As part of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) Sub Module, the role focuses on managing Customization Projects (ISM), efficiently managing design maintenance activities, and supporting operational readiness by delivering fast mitigation and resolution of issues

Responsibilities

- Contribute to product customization for regional or customer-specific requirements
- Feasibility Analysis
- Perform feasibility studies for configuring wind power converter systems using MATLAB and related front-end tools
- Analyze system performance, validate concepts, and document study results comprehensively

- Design & Engineering Execution

- Study, implement, and manage design changes for wind power converter systems using PDM Windchill
- Ensure proper documentation, version control, and traceability of engineering changes.

- Electrical Schematic Development

- Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics using EPLAN software

- Stakeholder Management

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, simulation, manufacturing, and project stakeholders

- Design Maintenance





- Maintain and update Converter design documents to address obsolescence, performance improvements, and cost optimization
- Ensure compliance with internal design standards and external regulatory requirements
- Possibly working with quality standards, IEC or other international standards, ensuring compliance
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams: electrical design, mechanical design, suppliers, field teams, etc

Qualifications

- Masters / Bachelors in Electrical / Power Electronics / Similar Engineering Specialization
- 8-10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics Design, Lifecycle Management
- Solid understanding about wind turbine converters, Change Notice (CN), and Change Request (CR) processes
- Experience with PTC Windchill
- Experience in wind energy or power systems

Competencies

- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for power system modeling and analysis
- Working knowledge of PDM Windchill or similar PLM tools
- Experience in EPLAN or equivalent electrical design software
- Understanding of renewable energy systems, grid integration, and converter technologies
- Effective analytical, documentation, and communication skills
- Structured problem-solving and effective stakeholder management
- Initiative-driven and cooperative mindset
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
