Job Description
Role Description:
- The Independent Risk Review and Assessment (IRRA) organization in Risk Management & Compliance (RM&C;) serves as U.S. Banks independent second line of defense, providing objective assessments of the effectiveness of the Banks Risk Management framework across credit, compliance, and operational risks.
- The Independent Assessment and Modernization team within the IRRA Program Office is seeking a Manager to oversee Review Enablement and Independent Data Procurement activities in support of IRRA Reviews. This role is responsible for managing a team of Analysts and Data Analysts, ensuring high-quality execution of data procurement, data-driven testing, and enablement initiatives that advance IRRA review capabilities.
- This role partners closely with U.S.-based leadership, including Independent Data Procurement and Review Enablement teams, to deliver scalable, high-quality, and review-ready data and analytics. The Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy in day-to-day execution, with accountability for delivery quality, team development, and adherence to IRRA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Delivery & Execution Oversight
- Oversee end-to-end data procurement and review enablement activities for IRRA Reviews, including data sourcing, validation, testing,
and delivery of analytical outputs.
- Ensure outputs meet IRRA standards for quality, documentation, independence, and regulatory defensibility.
- Partner with Review Enablement and Review teams to align data, analytics, and system-driven testing approaches with review methodologies and testing approaches.
- Oversee execution of data-driven and automated testing approaches, ensuring consistency and scalability across reviews.
- Monitor and manage timelines, dependencies, and risks across multiple concurrent initiatives, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Identify data limitations, dependencies, and risks across evolving enterprise data environments and ensure appropriate escalation and mitigation.
People Leadership & Project Management
- Directly manage and develop a team of Analysts and Lead Analysts, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to ensure consistent application of IRRA standards and methodologies.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning activities in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Drive skill development across the team, including data analytics, system-driven testing, and risk-based review practices.
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across global teams.
- Support governance, documentation,
and audit readiness of data and testing outputs.
- Ensure adherence to U.S. Bank Policies, risk management frameworks, and applicable laws and regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Eight or more years of relevant skilled experience in data analytics, risk management, compliance, audit, or related disciplines (including team leadership or oversight responsibilities).
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring teams and managing delivery in complex environments.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Strong experience in data analysis, data sourcing, and problem-solving in complex or regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of financial services, regulatory expectations, and risk management frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of business line operations, products, systems, and associated risks. Familiarity with data analytics tools and platforms such as SQL, SAS, Python, or visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) preferred.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and drive execution across multiple initiatives.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for diverse stakeholders.
