Role - SQL Server DBA

Client – Carnival Cruise Line.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure,
patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

- Provide DBA support for
SQL Server 2012/2016/2019, Azure SQL Managed Instance (MI), Azure VMs, and
on-premises SQL Servers.

- Perform database
migrations, especially Azure SQL MI to SQL Server on Azure VM, including
assessment, planning, execution, cutover, and validation.

- Manage backup, recovery,
storage, security, user access, and database objects.

- Monitor and improve SQL
Server performance, including query and database tuning.

- Implement and maintain
SQL Server Always On and high-availability solutions.

- Plan and execute
maintenance, patching, upgrades, and configuration changes following
change-management procedures.

- Troubleshoot database
performance, connectivity, backup, and other production issues.

- Perform RCA for major
incidents and implement corrective actions.

- Automate repetitive DBA
tasks and improve operational efficiency.

- Maintain database
standards, procedures, security, data integrity, and documentation.

- Provide proactive
support and technical guidance to users and DBA team members.

- Work with Azure
infrastructure and support enterprise-level database environments.

- Participate in 24/7
production support,



including approximately 2 weeks of night shift per
month.

Required Skills

- Strong hands-on
experience with MS SQL Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.

- Strong experience with
Azure SQL Managed Instance (MI) and Azure VMs.

- Positive knowledge of
Windows Server, PowerShell, and Batch scripting.

- Experience with SQL
Server installation, patching, upgrades, backup and recovery.

- Strong knowledge of SQL
Server performance tuning and troubleshooting.

- Experience with database
migrations and schema/object migration.

- Experience implementing
and supporting SQL Server Always On.

- Good understanding of
Azure infrastructure.

- Knowledge of Incident,
Change, and Problem Management processes.

- Experience with SSIS and
SSRS.

- Good communication and
troubleshooting skills.

Good to Have

- Experience with
NetBackup and SQL Server backup troubleshooting.

- Experience in database
automation.

- Experience working in
large-scale enterprise DBA environments.

- Knowledge of advanced
SQL Server performance and recovery techniques.

Support Model

- 24/7 production support

- Approximately 2 weeks of
night shift per month

- Participation in
incident, change, maintenance, and on-call activities
