About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to design, build, and scale distributed

backend services and modern web applications. You will own end-to-end delivery —

from API and data modelling through to production operations — across a microservices

platform built on Node.Js, NestJS, gRPC, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, and a multi -

cloud footprint spanning Google Cloud Platform and AWS, with React on the front end.

This is a hands-on senior IC role. You will write production code daily, set technical

direction for your services, review others' work, and mentor mid-level engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Backend & Architecture

- Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices using Node.Js and NestJS

(TypeScript).

- Define and implement gRPC service contracts (Protocol Buffers) for highthroughput

inter-service communication;
maintain backward compatibility across

versions.

- Build and version REST and GraphQL APIs for client-facing consumption.

- Decompose monolithic components into well -bounded services;
define service

ownership, contracts, and SLAs.

- Experience with ORMs such as TypeORM or Prisma, and with raw SQL where

performance demands it.

- Implement resilient inter-service patterns: retries, circuit breakers, idempotency,

timeouts, back-pressure, and graceful degradation.

- Design event-driven flows using message brokers (Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ)

— including outbox patterns and exactly-once/at-least-once handling.

Media Delivery, CDN & Video Streaming

- Design, develop, and operate scalable video processing and transcoding

pipelines for VOD and live streaming workflows.

- Implement video ingestion, adaptive bitrate (ABR) ladder generation, packaging

for HLS/DASH, thumbnail generation, previews, and media optimization using

FFmpeg, GCP Transcoder API, or similar encoding platforms.

- Architect and manage CDN delivery infrastructure using solutions such as Cloud

CDN, Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly, or CloudFront.

- Configure and optimize CDN settings including cache keys, cache-control policies,

TTLs, invalidation workflows, origin shielding, geo-restrictions, signed URLs, and

token-based access control.

- Drive streaming performance improvements through cache optimization, origin

offloading,



multi-CDN strategies, and cost optimization initiatives.

- Develop and maintain media catalog, metadata management, content discovery,

and playback services.

- Build and scale playback APIs responsible for manifest generation, playback

authorization, and entitlement validation.

- Support Live Streaming and VOD platforms, including DVR functionality, catch-up

TV workflows, and low-latency streaming architectures.

Data & Search

- Model relational schemas in PostgreSQL;
write and optimise complex queries,

indexes, partitions, and migrations.

- Diagnose and fix query performance issues using EXPLAIN ANALYZE, connection

pooling, and read-replica strategies.

- Design Elasticsearch (or AWS OpenSearch) indices, mappings, analyzers, and

aggregation-heavy queries for search and analytics workloads;
own reindexing

and relevance tuning.

- Use Redis — self-managed, GCP Memorystore, or AWS ElastiCache — for caching,

distributed locks, rate limiting, session storage, and queue primitives;
define

cache invalidation strategy and TTL policy.

Frontend

- Build responsive, accessible interfaces in React.Js with TypeScript, hooks, and

modern state management (Redux Toolkit / Zustand / React Query).

- Optimise front-end performance: bundle size, code splitting, lazy loading,

memoisation, and Core Web Vitals.

- Collaborate with design on component libraries and design-system consistency.

- Write component and integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library).

Engineering Leadership

- Lead technical design reviews and produce clear design documents with explicit

trade-offs.

- Conduct rigorous, constructive code reviews;
enforce coding standards and test

coverage.

- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers;
grow team capability through pairing and

knowledge sharing.

- Partner with Product, QA, and Design to break down epics, estimate accurately,

and deliver predictably.

- Participate in on-call rotation;
lead incident response and write blameless

postmortems.

Required Skills & Experience

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 5+ years building

production backend services in Node.Js / Express.Js.

- 3+ years of hands-on NestJS in production — modules,



dependency injection,

interceptors, guards, pipes, custom decorators.

- Strong TypeScript across both backend and frontend.

- Proven experience designing and operating microservices at scale, including

service decomposition and distributed-systems failure modes.

- Production experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers — schema design,

streaming, versioning.

- Deep PostgreSQL expertise: schema design, indexing, transactions, isolation

levels, query optimisation, migrations.

- Hands-on Elasticsearch: index design, mappings, analyzers, aggregations, cluster

health, and performance tuning.

- Production use of Redis for caching and distributed coordination.

- Solid GCP experience — deploying and running services on GKE or Cloud Run with

managed data services.

- Hands-on AWS experience — EKS/ECS or Lambda, RDS/Aurora, S3, SQS/SNS,

ElastiCache or OpenSearch, IAM roles and policies.

- Comfortable operating in a multi-cloud environment and reasoning about

portability, vendor lock-in, and cost trade-offs between GCP and AWS.

- DevOps competence: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, monitoring

and alerting.

- React.Js proficiency — hooks, component architecture, state management,

performance tuning.

- Strong grasp of API design, authentication/authorisation (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC),

and secure coding practices.

- Testing discipline: unit, integration, and end-to-end (Jest, Supertest,

Playwright/Cypress).

- Git-based workflows, trunk-based or GitFlow branching, and disciplined PR

hygiene.

Positive to Have

- Experience with Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or AWS MSK/Kinesis at high

volume.

- Cloud certification — GCP Professional Cloud Architect/Engineer or AWS

Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer.

- Experience migrating workloads between cloud providers or running active-active

across regions and clouds.

- Familiarity with Next.Js, server-side rendering, and edge caching.

- Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS or OTT/media streaming platforms.

- Implement secure video delivery mechanisms including DRM integration

(Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady), encryption, entitlement checks, and secure key

management.

- Monitor and improve Quality of Experience (QoE) metrics including startup

latency, buffering ratio, playback success rate, video quality distribution, and

viewer engagement metrics.

- Troubleshoot streaming issues across encoding, packaging, CDN, player, and

network layers.

- Knowledge of BFF patterns.

- - Performance and load testing (k6, JMeter, Artillery).
