We are looking for a highly driven Industrial Design Engineer to join the AEREKA product development team in Noida. This is a hands-on product engineering role for someone who can combine industrial design thinking with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals. You will work across concept development, product architecture, 3D CAD, airflow and structural simulation, prototyping, testing, DFM, serviceability, and design refinement.
You will collaborate closely with mechanical, electronics, firmware, testing, manufacturing, product, and leadership teams to turn AEREKA's product vision into functional, manufacturable, maintainable, and visually distinctive environmental hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and support product ideation, concept development, architecture exploration, and design refinement for AEREKA products.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Design product structures, purification modules, housings, mounting systems, mechanical interfaces, and service-access features.
- Perform and interpret CFD simulations to study airflow behavior, flow paths, pressure losses, and geometry performance.
- Perform structural and FEA simulations using ANSYS to validate mechanical integrity and optimize designs.
- Translate product concepts into buildable and manufacturable designs using DFM and DFA principles.
- Design for real-world considerations including outdoor durability, dust, weather exposure, vibration, maintenance, assembly, and field servicing.
- Optimize designs for performance, weight, material usage, structural integrity, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop product architecture that balances engineering functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, accessibility, and public-facing product identity.
- Collaborate with electronics, firmware, sensing, testing, and product teams to ensure effective cross-functional system integration.
- Support rapid prototyping, fabrication, assembly, testing, failure analysis, and subsequent design iterations.
- Work with vendors and manufacturing partners to understand fabrication constraints and improve designs for production.
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, assembly documentation, design specifications, and technical reports.
- Participate in design reviews and use test and simulation evidence to drive engineering decisions.
- Take ownership of designs from concept → CAD → simulation → prototype → validation → design improvement.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics / Aeronautical Engineering
- OR B.Des in Product Design / Industrial Design
- M.Tech / M.E. in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Aeronautical Engineering is also relevant.
Experience
- Freshers or candidates with 0–3 years of relevant experience in industrial design, product design, mechanical design, or product development.
- Experience through internships, academic projects, competitions, startups, R&D; environments, or independent product builds will also be considered.
- Hands-on exposure to physical product development, prototyping, fabrication, or testing is strongly preferred.
Required Skills & Tools
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks – mandatory.
- Experience with ANSYS for CFD, Structural and/or FEA simulations.
- Experience with Fusion 360, Rhino, KeyShot, Blender, or similar design/rendering tools is valuable.
- Good understanding of DFM, DFA, and Design for Reliability (DFR).
- Strong fundamentals in mechanics, materials, structures, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design.
- Ability to interpret simulation results rather than treating simulation software as a black box.
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal fabrication, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, molding, extrusion, and fabricated assemblies.
- Ability to create production-oriented engineering drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
Good to Have
- Experience with airflow-driven products, filtration systems, environmental hardware, HVAC, fluid-flow systems, or outdoor products.
- Understanding of aerodynamics, pressure drop, airflow resistance, and CFD validation.
- Exposure to rotating mechanisms, shafts, bearings, balancing, structural supports, or similar mechanical systems.
- Experience designing products for weather exposure, dust, ingress protection, corrosion resistance, or outdoor durability.
- Strong product aesthetics, form development, ergonomics, and user-centric design capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, workshop tools, prototype assembly, and testing.
- Experience taking a design beyond CAD and actually building, testing, breaking, diagnosing, and improving it.
Skills & CompetenciesAI-First Engineering & Design Approach – Mandatory
You should be comfortable using modern AI tools as part of your everyday engineering workflow.
We expect candidates to demonstrate how they use AI to accelerate research, ideation, concept exploration, engineering calculations, simulation planning, design reviews, documentation, failure analysis, and repetitive engineering tasks.
We are interested in AI that improves engineering speed and decision quality—not AI usage for the sake of appearing advanced.
First-Principles Problem Solving
You should be able to break complex engineering problems into fundamentals, challenge assumptions, compare alternatives,
and arrive at practical solutions.
Engineering Rigor
CAD that looks good is not enough. You should care about loads, airflow, tolerances, materials, assembly, failure modes, manufacturing, maintenance, and real-world performance.
Creativity with Practicality
You should be able to create products that are visually distinctive while remaining functional, manufacturable, maintainable, and commercially realistic.
Hands-On Product Mindset
We value engineers who want to see their designs become physical products. You should be willing to prototype, assemble, test, identify failures, and revise your own designs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
You should be comfortable working with engineers across mechanical, electronics, firmware, sensing, testing, manufacturing, and product development.
Ownership & Execution
We are looking for people who take responsibility for outcomes—not just assigned tasks. You should be proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of driving engineering work toward closure.
What You’ll Gain
At AEREKA, you will get hands-on exposure to:
- Building a deep-tech environmental hardware product from the ground up
- Industrial and mechanical product development
- Airflow and CFD-driven design
- Mechanical architecture and structural engineering
- Rapid prototyping and engineering validation
- Outdoor product design and durability
- Electronics and mechanical system integration
- DFM and manufacturing engineering
- Vendor and fabrication ecosystems
- Product testing and failure analysis
- AI-enabled engineering workflows
- Taking products from concept toward real-world deployment
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary product team and have the opportunity to influence real engineering decisions rather than working on isolated design tasks.
Who Will Thrive at AEREKA
You are likely to enjoy this role if you:
- love building physical products;
- are equally comfortable with design creativity and engineering calculations;
- question why a design works instead of only asking how to model it;
- enjoy CAD but also want to prototype and test what you design;
- are curious about airflow, mechanisms, materials, manufacturing, and product architecture;
- can accept when testing proves your initial design wrong and improve it quickly;
- take ownership without requiring constant supervision;
- want a steep learning curve in a fast-moving product development environment.
Why Join AEREKA
At AEREKA, you won't be designing isolated components or concepts that remain on a screen.
You will help build a new environmental technology product from its early engineering stages—working through the difficult questions of performance, airflow, mechanics, durability, manufacturability, maintenance, cost, and real-world deployment.
If you want to become the kind of engineer who can take an idea and turn it into a real, working, manufacturable product, we would like to hear from you.
