About the Role
We are hiring an Associate Divisional Manager Manufacturing Engineering for Vehicle Assembly at our Oragadam, Chennai facility. The role is responsible for assembly process planning, line balancing, tooling coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and current model launch support across BIW, trim, chassis, and final assembly stages.This is an Individual Contributor role.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly Process Planning
Define and document vehicle assembly processes from BIW, trim, chassis to final assembly
Develop assembly sequence, process flow, and work instructions aligned with product design
Create and maintain process sheets, SOPs, and control plans
Line Balancing & Capacity Planning
Perform line balancing and cycle time studies to meet takt time requirements
Plan manpower, station layout, and equipment utilization for optimal productivity
Evaluate capacity and support ramp-up, model change, and new program launches
Tooling, Equipment & Layout
Coordinate with tooling teams for fixtures, jigs, and assembly tools
Support plant layout planning, ergonomic assessments, and workstation design
Ensure equipment readiness and support installation and commissioning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with Product Design, Quality, Production, Industrial Engineering, and Supply Chain
Provide DFM/DFA feedback during product development phases
Support ECN implementation into assembly lines
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Support PFMEA, process audits, and root cause analysis
Drive Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives for productivity and quality improvement
Launch Support
Support new vehicle program launches, pilot builds, and trial runs
Track milestones and ensure readiness for Start of Production (SOP)
