Roles and Responsibilities

A. Academic Leadership

1. Provide overall leadership for all Allied Health Sciences academic programmes.
2. Develop, implement and periodically review academic plans and programmes.
3. Ensure effective implementation of approved curriculum and academic regulations.
4. Monitor teaching schedules, lesson plans, practical classes and clinical postings.
5. Ensure appropriate integration of theoretical, laboratory and clinical learning.
6. Review academic performance of students and take corrective measures where required.
7. Chair academic meetings and coordinate with Heads of Departments/Programme Coordinators.
8. Promote cutting-edge teaching-learning methodologies, simulation-based learning and technology-enabled education.
9. Ensure proper conduct of internal assessments, examinations, practical examinations and other academic activities.
10. Maintain academic records, course files, student records and required reports.

B. NCAHP / Regulatory Compliance

1. Ensure compliance with applicable NCAHP standards, regulations and notifications.
2. Monitor implementation of prescribed NCAHP curricula and academic requirements.
3. Ensure maintenance of required faculty strength, qualifications, infrastructure, laboratories and clinical training facilities.
4. Coordinate documentation required for inspections, assessments, recognition, affiliation and accreditation.
5. Ensure timely submission of statutory and institutional reports to concerned authorities.
6. Keep the institution updated regarding changes in NCAHP, university and other applicable regulatory requirements.
7. Ensure professional conduct, ethical standards and competency-based education among students and faculty.

Note: NCAHP's framework covers education standards, curriculum, staff qualifications, assessment, examination, training, research, continuing professional education and institutional assessment.

C. Faculty Management

1. Participate in faculty recruitment, selection, induction and orientation.
2.



Allocate teaching and academic responsibilities among faculty members.
3. Monitor faculty attendance, workload, performance and academic contribution.
4. Conduct/coordinate faculty performance reviews and development programmes.
5. Identify faculty training and Continuing Professional Development requirements.
6. Encourage faculty members to undertake research, publications, conferences and professional development.
7. Maintain appropriate faculty-student ratios and academic staffing as applicable.

D. Clinical Training & Hospital Coordination

1. Coordinate clinical postings and practical training with the associated teaching hospital.
2. Ensure adequate exposure of students to relevant clinical departments.
3. Coordinate with Medical Superintendent, Hospital Administration, Nursing, Clinical Departments and other stakeholders.
4. Ensure proper clinical logbooks, skill records, case exposure and competency assessments.
5. Monitor student discipline, attendance and professional behaviour during clinical postings.
6. Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, infection prevention and ethical practices during clinical training.

E. Student Affairs

1. Provide academic mentoring and guidance to students.
2. Monitor student attendance, academic progress and examination performance.
3. Address student grievances in coordination with appropriate committees.
4. Ensure effective implementation of student orientation and induction programmes.
5. Promote discipline, professional ethics and appropriate workplace behaviour.
6. Encourage participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, research and extracurricular activities.
7. Support placement, internship and career development initiatives.

F. Research & Development

1. Promote research activities across Allied Health Sciences departments.
2. Encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects and publications.
3. Facilitate research collaborations with hospitals, universities and healthcare institutions.
4. Monitor research proposals, ethics requirements and research documentation.
5. Promote evidence-based education and clinical practice.
