Operate conventional lathe machines for production and machining work.
Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, grooving, threading and parting operations.
Set and secure components properly in the machine chuck.
Select and use appropriate cutting tools for different machining operations.
Read and understand basic engineering drawings and dimensions.
Set machine speed, feed and cutting depth according to the job requirement.
Measure finished components using vernier calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
Check dimensions, tolerances and surface finish of machined components.
Identify machining defects and make necessary corrections.
Maintain machines, tools and work area properly.
Follow production, quality and safety procedures.
Requirements
ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Turner, Mechanical or related technical qualification preferred.
1–3 years of relevant lathe machine operating experience preferred.
Practical experience with conventional lathe machines.
Knowledge of turning, facing, drilling and threading.
Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
Knowledge of measuring instruments such as vernier caliper and micrometer.
Positive practical and mechanical knowledge.
Ability to work independently and meet production requirements.
Freshers with robust technical knowledge may also be considered.
Preferred Skills
Experience in manufacturing or machine-shop environments.
Knowledge of different cutting tools and machining materials.
Basic knowledge of tolerances and surface finish.
Experience with shafts, bushes, rods and other precision components.
CNC lathe experience will be an added advantage.
