Job Description
1. Job Details
Job Title: Assistant Professor
Department: Bioengineering
Location: Pune
3. Key Accountability
Academic
- Responsible to conduct lectures as per the assigned workload
- Assist the Associate Professor, Professor, HOS in developing the Bioengineering curriculum
- Active participation in academic and examination duty
- Conduct practicals, laboratory sessions, and tutorials as per the assigned schedule
- Responsible for setting up question papers
- Participate in organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, FDPs, and technical symposiums
- Understand the skills relevant in the biomedical/biotech industry job market and provide insights to professors and HOS
- Organize various training programs for students to develop technical and soft skills
- Organize study tours/industry visits to hospitals, biotech companies, and research labs for required student exposure
Research Development
- Expected to show a high level of proficiency in research in Bioengineering and allied areas (Biomedical Devices, Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics, Medical Imaging, etc.)
- Responsible to write research papers
- Responsible for publishing papers nationally/internationally in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Be a co-investigator for writing research proposals and securing grants
- Encourage students to write research papers and participate in project competitions
Strategic
- Support in the execution of the strategic plan of the school
Operational
- Participate in student-related activities such as NCC, student welfare, ASG, cultural and technical events, and counseling/mentoring students
- Actively participate during admissions of students and counsel
- Responsible to work closely with students on various academic and research/lab projects
- Supervise during examinations
- Actively be a part of organizing convocation
- Accompany students for rural immersion programs, study tours, yoga, internships, hospital/clinical visits, international tours
- Responsible to check answer sheets of students and share assessment with seniors for further student improvement
- Address student issues
- Maintain proper record of students
- Ensure lab safety protocols and equipment maintenance in bioengineering laboratories
Finance and Budget
- Follow the directives of professors, HOS, and Dean to utilize the budget within the academic unit
Collaborations
- Actively be a part of National Teachers Congress, Bharatiya Chatra Sansad, National Women's Parliament and other program events/program committees
- Focus on engagement with biomedical, biotech, and healthcare companies for industry collaboration, placement of students, and Alumni
- Collaborate with hospitals and research institutions for internships, clinical exposure, and joint research
- Collaborate with CIAP and Marketing to have smooth student admissions and placements
4. Person Specification
Desired Qualification and Experience
- Preferably a Ph.D. in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering/allied disciplines
- Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in M.Tech/M.E. Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biotechnology from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university
- Bachelor's degree in B.Tech/B.E. Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biotechnology preferred as the qualifying undergraduate discipline
- Preferably should be NET/SET/SLET or GATE qualified as applicable
- A person without a Ph.D. but having a relevant Master's Degree in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering can be considered based on their industry experience. Minimum relevant experience required: 0 to 5 years
Substantial leadership and management experience

- Should possess exceptional communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
- Sound knowledge of biomedical technologies, laboratory practices, and emerging trends in Bioengineering
