Market Garden Manager / Farm Operations Lead

About the Role

We are launching a current intensive market-gardening venture supplying high-value fresh produce directly to restaurants, subscription customers, and premium retail in Ahmedabad. We're looking for someone to take operational ownership of the farm — from crop planning through to product reaching the customer — with a solid bias toward disciplined, data-driven cultivation over informal farming habits.

This is a founding operational hire. You will build the systems, not just execute someone else's.

Responsibilities:
Cultivation
Plan and execute a year-round crop calendar with succession planting to keep beds in continuous production
Manage drip irrigation and fertigation scheduling
Select and manage a crop mix weighted toward high-value, restaurant/premium-retail-oriented produce (heirloom vegetables, specialty greens, herbs) rather than commodity crops already well served by local mandis




Maintain soil health through appropriate rotation and organic input management
Supervise field labor and day-to-day farm operations

Sales & Customer Relationships
Build and maintain relationships with restaurant buyers and/or subscription customers
Manage order fulfillment and delivery scheduling
Represent product quality consistently — this business's premium depends on it

Records & Reporting
Maintain yield records, input costs, and basic P&L; data by crop
Report weekly/monthly on production volumes, sales, and issues
Flag input purchasing needs to founder/finance rather than independently procuring and reconciling cash (structural requirement, not a reflection of trust — applies to all roles in the group)

Requirements:
2+ years hands-on experience in intensive vegetable cultivation, market gardening, or high-value horticulture (diploma/degree from an agricultural university a plus, not a substitute for field exper
