Role Overview:

As a Senior Java Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge applications and services, ensuring they meet the needs of our global customer base. Your contributions will help shape the future of technology at Rakuten.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and manage scalable microservices and applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve technical challenges and improve application performance.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and to promote best practices within the development team.
- Write clean, maintainable code and ensure comprehensive testing to uphold product reliability.
- Engage in Agile methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.




- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance our products.
- Document technical specifications and system architectures to facilitate knowledge sharing across the team.
- Production Operations and handling the bugs in Production.
- Monitoring and Alerting, Performance Optimization, Capacity Planning.

Required Qualifications:

- 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Proficient understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment, employing Agile methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize software performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with containerizations technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with database management systems and experience in database design and optimization.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools to streamline the development process.
- Exposure to front-end technologies and frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge on AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor etc
