Role & responsibilities :

Tooling Procurement & Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and develop tooling suppliers for plastic injection molds and related manufacturing tools.
Manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) activities, cost comparison, supplier negotiation, and finalization of tooling orders.
Ensure procurement of molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and auxiliary tooling at optimum cost, quality, and delivery terms.
Conduct supplier capability assessments and audits for tooling vendors.

Recent Project Tool Development
Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Program Management, and Tool Makers for recent tool development activities.
Monitor tool manufacturing progress and ensure on-time tool completion as per project milestones.
Participate in Technical Reviews, Tool Design Reviews, Tool Trials, and Validation activities.
Track APQP requirements related to tooling development.

Cost Management
Negotiate tooling costs, commercial terms, and payment milestones with suppliers.
Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and alternate supplier development.




Prepare tooling investment proposals and cost-benefit analyses.

Supplier Management
Develop and maintain robust relationships with tool makers and plastic commodity suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Development (QCDD) parameters.
Resolve commercial and technical issues with suppliers to avoid project delays.

Tool Maintenance & Asset Management
Maintain tooling inventory and records, including tool ownership and asset tracking.
Coordinate with suppliers and production teams for tool modifications, repairs, refurbishment, and preventive maintenance.
Ensure proper documentation of tool transfers, validation reports, and tooling history.

Quality & Compliance
Ensure tooling suppliers comply with automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
Support PPAP, trial runs, mold validation, and production readiness activities.
Ensure adherence to company procurement policies and customer requirements.
