About the Opportunity
Mercor is building a network of experienced Data Scientists for future projects with leading AI research organizations. These projects will focus on evaluating how effectively AI systems perform real-world data science work, including statistical analysis, machine learning, experimentation, and technical decision-making.
While there is no immediate project opening, qualified candidates may be contacted as relevant opportunities become available.
Ideal Candidates
- 1+ years of qualified experience in Data Science
- Experience at a leading technology company, research organization, quantitative firm, AI lab, or equivalent environment
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimentation methodologies
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and translating data into actionable insights
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable receiving feedback and calibrating evaluations against established standards
Key Responsibilities
- Design task-specific evaluation criteria for data science deliverables and workflows
- Review and assess exploratory data analyses, machine learning models, feature engineering solutions, and technical reports
- Evaluate AI-generated and human-created work against predefined quality standards
- Provide detailed written justifications for scores and evaluations
- Apply consistent, evidence-based judgment to ensure evaluations are reproducible and defensible
- Incorporate reviewer feedback and refine evaluations as needed
