About the Role
ACCESS ASSIST is looking for a Communications Intern to support our digital communications, social media and knowledge outreach activities.
The role is suited for a creative, digitally savvy and proactive individual who understands how different digital platforms work and is interested in building engagement around development, financial services, inclusion, livelihoods and other social-impact themes.
The intern will work closely with the ACCESS ASSIST team to develop and distribute engaging content across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, YouTube and other relevant digital platforms, while supporting website content, SEO and digital outreach.
This is a hands-on role involving content creation, social media management, audience engagement, digital campaigns, analytics and communications support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute social media content and engagement strategies across relevant digital platforms.
- Create engaging content for LinkedIn, Instagram, X, YouTube and other social media channels.
- Develop posts, captions, short-form content, visual concepts, newsletters and other digital communication materials.
- Support development of short videos, reels, infographics and other engaging digital formats.
- Monitor social media trends, formats, conversations and emerging tools and identify opportunities to increase reach and engagement.
- Manage regular posting schedules and maintain a social media content calendar.
- Track social media performance, engagement,
reach and audience growth and develop insights to improve content strategy.
- Support website content development and optimization, including SEO, keyword research, metadata, content structure and search visibility.
- Conduct basic research on relevant topics and convert research findings, reports and project activities into accessible digital content.
- Support development and dissemination of research reports, publications, newsletters, blogs, case studies and knowledge products.
- Engage with online audiences and support community building across relevant platforms.
- Monitor relevant conversations and developments across the development, financial services and social-impact ecosystem.
- Support digital campaigns and communications around events, publications, programs and organizational initiatives.
- Work with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging, branding and visual identity across communication channels.
- Maintain basic analytics and reporting on digital and social media performance.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a creative, digitally fluent and highly proactive individual who understands how social media platforms work and what drives audience engagement.
The candidate should have a strong interest in digital communications, social media, content creation and storytelling, with the ability to turn relatively complex subjects into content that is clear, accessible and engaging.
Good working knowledge of multiple platforms, particularly LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and X, is expected. Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics/Search Console, keyword research,
content optimization and digital marketing tools will be an advantage.
Experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or other video/content creation platforms will be valued.
The candidate should have strong written English, attention to detail and an ability to adapt communication for different audiences and platforms. An interest in development, financial inclusion, sustainability, livelihoods, social impact or public policy would be an advantage.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is curious, creative and willing to experiment, understands digital trends and is keen to learn what works—and what does not—in building digital engagement.
Qualifications
Students or recent graduates pursuing/completing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, Digital Marketing, Marketing, Media Studies, English, Design or a related field are encouraged to apply.
Candidates from other disciplines with demonstrated digital communications and social media capabilities may also be considered.
