Our Umbergaon facility (Unit II) runs modern tube-making operations — melting, casting, extrusion, pilgering, drawing, annealing, finning and finishing — serving HVAC, medical gas pipeline, plumbing and industrial applications. We invest in current manufacturing technology and in the people who run it, and we manage our operations on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

About the Role

You will own the chemical/materials laboratory — its methods, instruments, people, accreditation-readiness and output. You ensure every result the lab issues is accurate, traceable and defensible to ASTM/EN and customer standards, and you lead the lab as a reliable pillar of plant quality. A leadership role for an experienced lab professional who wants full ownership of a testing laboratory in a copper-tube plant.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the chemical/materials laboratory — testing, methods, instruments, people and output.

- Ensure accuracy, calibration, traceability and standards compliance (ASTM/EN, customer, ISO 9001).

- Lead lab engineers and technicians; plan coverage, training and development.

- Establish and control test methods, procedures and quality of results.

- Manage instrument procurement, calibration, AMC and lab budget.

- Own material certificates, test reports and lab MIS; ensure timely, valid certification.

- Lead RCA and improvement on material/chemistry non-conformities with Metallurgy/Quality.

- Support audits (internal, customer, certification) and lab accreditation readiness.

- Ensure lab safety,



chemical management and documentation compliance.

Educational Qualification

M.Sc / B.Sc / Diploma in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering.

Experience

7–10 years in laboratory / materials-testing roles, including lab supervision/management.

Technical Skills

- Laboratory management & method ownership

- ASTM / EN / ISO 9001 lab requirements

- Calibration, traceability & accreditation readiness

- Instrument & AMC / budget management

- RCA on material/chemistry issues

- Audit handling

- Team leadership & development

ERP / Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Requirement level: Basic user — Optional

Comfort with recording lab data/certificates in Business Central is a plus, not a requirement.
