An Audiology and Speech Therapist Technician conducts diagnostic hearing tests (pure tone, speech audiometry, tympanometry) and assists in speech rehabilitation under supervision. Responsible for hearing aid fitting/maintenance, performing bedside screenings in wards, maintaining patient records, and educating families, typically reporting to an ENT or Audiologist.
Key Responsibilities
- Audiology Tests: Perform comprehensive hearing assessments, including Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA), Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry), and speech audiometry.
- Speech Rehabilitation: Assist therapists in implementing language therapy, voice evaluation, and stuttering management for children and adults.
- Clinical Support: Support ENT specialists and Audiologists during diagnostics, including Bedside Evaluation for stroke or injured patients.
- Hearing Aid Management: Fit, adjust, and troubleshoot hearing aids and other hearing instruments.
- Patient Counseling: Educate patients and caregivers regarding hearing health, speech exercises, and the use of hearing devices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient case files, test logs, and rehabilitation reports.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: MSc in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (MASLP).
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with Audiological equipment (Audiometers, Tympanometers).
- Clinical Skills: Excellent communication (local language and English), patience, and counseling skills.
- Experience: 2 - 5years of relevant experience
