Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Shop Floor In-Charge to lead bay operations, technician deployment, and mechanical/electrical repairs at our Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Workshop (TASS) in Korba. This role is responsible for maximizing bay productivity, enforcing CV repair safety standards, speeding up turnaround times (TAT) for fleet operators, and ensuring high-quality overhauls across SCV, ILCV, and MHCV segments.

Key Responsibilities

- Bay & Pit Workflow Management: Assign job cards to mechanics and technicians across inspection pits and heavy repair bays; eliminate idle time to reduce Vehicle Off-Road (VOR) hours.
- Heavy Aggregate & BS6 Troubleshooting: Supervise troubleshooting and repairs of heavy commercial vehicle aggregates (engines, gearboxes, differentials, steering, leaf spring suspensions, air-brake systems, and BS6 SCR/DEF after-treatment systems).
- Breakdown & Tata Alert Support:



Coordinate with the mobile service van team for emergency highway/field breakdown repairs under the Tata Alert program to meet strict SLA response times.
- Quality Control & Road Testing: Conduct mandatory post-repair inspections, torque-check verification, and test drives before clearing commercial vehicles for final billing and delivery.
- Bay Discipline & Equipment Maintenance: Oversee proper usage of heavy workshop equipment (pit jacks, crane hoists, aggregate overhaul stands, torque multipliers, pneumatic wrenches, and Tata diagnostic laptops).
- Parts Indenting: Coordinate with the spare parts store to ensure prompt issue of Tata Genuine Parts (TGP) and lubricants, avoiding bay hold-ups.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Diploma / ITI in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 4 to 7 years in a commercial vehicle workshop, with at least 2 years as a floor supervisor or senior mechanic in an authorized CV dealership or TASS.
- OEM Experience: Direct experience with Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (MHCV/ILCV/SCV) is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: In-depth aggregate overhaul knowledge, pneumatic brake systems, wiring harness troubleshooting, and Tata diagnostic tool usage.
- Licensing: Valid Driving Licence (LMV mandatory; HMV/commercial vehicle driving licence preferred).

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
