Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically competent Senior Laboratory Technician to join our hospital laboratory team. The candidate will be responsible for performing and supervising laboratory investigations, maintaining quality standards, ensuring accurate results, and supporting smooth technical operations of the laboratory.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in clinical laboratory procedures, sample processing, quality control, and laboratory equipment handling.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform and supervise routine and specialized laboratory investigations as per departmental requirements.
- Ensure proper sample collection, identification, labeling, processing, storage, and disposal.
- Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers and other diagnostic equipment as per SOPs.
- Perform internal quality control and ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Identify and report abnormal, critical, or technically questionable results as per hospital protocols.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor reagent, consumable, and inventory requirements and report shortages in advance.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, quality standards, biosafety protocols, and infection-control practices.
- Maintain proper technical records, registers, worksheets, QC records, and documentation.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, sample collection staff, and other departments regarding laboratory investigations.
- Supervise junior laboratory technicians and guide them in day-to-day technical activities.
- Allocate technical work among laboratory staff according to workload and shift requirements.




- Ensure timely processing of samples and adherence to defined Turnaround Time (TAT).
- Handle urgent and emergency laboratory investigations on priority.
- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement activities, and NABH-related compliance.
- Ensure proper handling of biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Identify technical errors and take appropriate corrective and preventive action.
- Train and guide junior staff regarding laboratory procedures, equipment operation, safety, and quality practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of patient laboratory reports.
- Perform other technical responsibilities assigned by the Laboratory In-charge / Management.

Candidate Requirements

- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / BMLT or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant laboratory experience in a hospital or diagnostic centre.
- Strong hands-on experience in clinical laboratory operations.
- Experience in handling laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment.
- Good knowledge of Quality Control, NABH standards, laboratory safety, and SOP compliance.
- Ability to work independently and handle emergency/urgent investigations.
- Robust team coordination and supervisory skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited hospital or diagnostic centre will be preferred.
