About the Role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) Software Engineer to design, develop, debug, and support applications on the IBM i platform.

The role involves the complete development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, production deployment, and application support while meeting client SLAs. Exposure to manual/functional testing is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and enhance AS/400 applications using RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400.
- Mandatory: Hands-on experience with Synon/CA2E.
- Design and modify programs, display files, and report files based on business and database requirements.
- Query and analyze DB2 data using SQL.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects and service requests and deliver timely fixes.
- Provide batch support across development, testing, and production environments.
- Perform unit and integration testing and support production deployments.
- Prepare technical specifications, workflow designs, and production support handover documents.
- Perform system maintenance and health checks.
- Automate housekeeping activities wherever possible.
- Follow change management and incident management processes.
- Ensure adherence to client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Required Skills & Qualifications





- 3–5 years of overall IT experience with hands-on AS/400 development and support experience.
- Strong programming skills in:

- RPGLE
- RPG/400
- CLLE
- CL/400
- ILE concepts

- Proficiency in DB2 and SQL for data analysis.
- Experience with AS/400 development tools:

- SEU
- SDA
- RLU
- PDM

- Strong debugging, unit testing, and test-case design skills.
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools such as Jira.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

Good-to-Have Skills

- Experience in manual, functional, regression, and smoke testing.
- Exposure to change management, incident management, and production support in an SLA-driven environment.
- Domain experience in:

- Banking / Financial Services
- Cheque / Transaction Processing
- Accounts Payable / Receivable
- Inventory Management
- Insurance / Policy Administration

- Experience with payment application testing/certification such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.
- Ability to create user manuals and technical documentation.
