Senior Fashion Designer

LOCATION: New Delhi

Role Overview

Sonalika is establishing a premium fashion brand with a primary focus on the European market. We are seeking an accomplished Senior Fashion Designer to play a leading role in building the brand and managing its design and product-development function.

The position requires a commercially aware fashion professional capable of managing the complete product lifecycle—from market research and collection development to sourcing, production, quality, positioning and sales enablement. The selected candidate will work closely with senior management in shaping the brand’s creative and commercial direction.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop the brand’s design language, seasonal direction and product collections in alignment with the expectations of premium international markets.
- Conduct fashion, consumer, competitor and trend research to identify commercially relevant design opportunities.
- Lead the complete design process, including concept development, mood boards, sketches, range planning, fabric selection, sampling, fittings and finalisation.
- Manage fabric, trims and material sourcing while developing reliable relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and other external partners.
- Coordinate sampling and production to ensure adherence to approved designs, quality standards, timelines and commercial requirements.
- Establish and maintain high standards for product quality, construction, finish, fit and consistency.
- Contribute to product costing, pricing, assortment planning and collection-level commercial decisions.
- Collaborate on brand positioning, product presentation, marketing campaigns, launches and sales initiatives.
- Manage and guide designers and other team members involved in product development and execution.




- Present concepts, collections, prototypes and recommendations to senior management for review and approval.
- Monitor performance and customer response to continuously refine future collections and product strategy.
- Undertake domestic or international travel as required for business purposes.

Candidate Profile

- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in fashion design, with demonstrated responsibility for managing collections or the end-to-end product-development process.
- Strong understanding of premium fashion, international trends, fabrics, garment construction, fit, sampling and production.
- Proven ability to translate creative concepts into commercially viable, production-ready collections.
- Experience in supplier development, sourcing, manufacturing coordination and quality management.
- Sound commercial understanding of product costing, pricing, market positioning and customer preferences.
- Strong leadership and team-management capability.
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder-management and decision-making skills.
- A strong professional portfolio demonstrating design depth, originality, technical capability and commercially executed work.
- Exposure to premium apparel or European/international markets will be preferred.
- Working proficiency in relevant fashion-design and product-development tools will be advantageous.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Technology, Apparel Design or a related discipline. Candidates from NIFT or other reputed institutions will be preferred; however, the quality and relevance of professional experience and portfolio will receive primary consideration.
