Position: X-Ray Technician / Radiographer

Department: Radiology / Diagnostic Imaging

Location: Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting To: Radiologist / Medical Superintendent / Hospital Administrator

1. Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and skilled X-Ray Technician/Radiographer to operate diagnostic X-ray equipment safely and efficiently. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing routine radiographic examinations, ensuring proper patient positioning and image quality, maintaining radiation-safety standards, and assisting the Radiologist/Medical Team as required. The candidate must strictly follow applicable AERB radiation-safety requirements, hospital protocols, infection-control practices, and patient-safety standards.

1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Radiography & Patient Care

- Perform routine X-ray examinations as prescribed by the Radiologist/authorized Medical Practitioner.
- Verify patient identity, examination request and relevant clinical information before the procedure.
- Explain the procedure to patients and obtain cooperation while maintaining dignity and privacy.
- Position patients correctly to obtain diagnostically acceptable images.
- Select appropriate exposure factors according to the examination and patient condition.
- Operate X-ray equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper image acquisition, processing and quality before completing the examination.
- Repeat images only when clinically/radiographically necessary and in accordance with radiation-safety principles.
- Assist with emergency and portable/mobile X-ray examinations when required.

B. Radiation Safety & AERB Compliance
- Follow all applicable AERB guidelines and radiation-protection procedures.
- Use radiation protection devices such as lead apron, thyroid shield, protective barriers and other prescribed equipment.
- Ensure that unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, staff and attendants is avoided.
- Maintain and use personal radiation monitoring/dosimetry as required.
- Follow departmental protocols for radiation protection and controlled access to the X-ray area.
- Immediately report equipment malfunction,



radiation-safety concerns or unusual incidents to the appropriate authority.
- Support periodic quality assurance and safety checks of X-ray equipment.
- Maintain required records related to radiography, equipment, radiation monitoring and quality control.

AERB requires medical X-ray installations to have qualified/trained personnel, radiation protection measures and personnel monitoring for radiation workers. C. Equipment & Departmental Responsibilities
- Perform daily/basic operational checks of X-ray equipment before use.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the X-ray room and accessories.
- Report equipment faults promptly and coordinate with authorized service personnel.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of radiographic accessories.
- Follow preventive maintenance and quality-control schedules.
- Maintain accurate examination registers and electronic records/PACS/RIS entries, where applicable.

D. Infection Control & Patient Safety
- Follow hospital infection-control policies and standard precautions.
- Clean/disinfect equipment and patient-contact surfaces as per protocol.
- Follow appropriate precautions for infectious, immobile, pediatric and emergency patients.
- Ensure safe transfer and positioning of patients to prevent falls or injuries.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.

1. Educational Qualification

Essential:

- Diploma/Certificate in Radiography / X-Ray Technology / Medical Radiography from a recognized institution/Board/University, as applicable.
- Candidates must meet the applicable regulatory requirements for operating medical X-ray equipment.

AERB's current diagnostic-radiology guidance identifies the operator qualification as a Radiographer's/X-ray Technologist's course from a recognized Institution/Board/University.

Preferred:

- B.Sc.



in Medical Radiography / Radiological Imaging Technology or equivalent.
- Additional training in radiation safety, CT, CR/DR, PACS/RIS or other diagnostic imaging systems.

1. Experience

- Freshers: May be considered if appropriately qualified and trained.
- Experienced candidates: Preferably 1–3 years of experience in a hospital, diagnostic centre or imaging facility.
- Experience with CR/DR digital X-ray systems, portable X-ray and PACS/RIS will be an advantage.

1. Technical Skills

The candidate should have practical knowledge of:
- Routine radiographic procedures
- Patient positioning and radiographic techniques
- Exposure-factor selection
- Digital X-ray / CR / DR systems
- Radiation protection and dose optimization
- Basic equipment troubleshooting
- PACS/RIS and digital image handling
- Infection prevention and control
- Emergency/portable radiography, where applicable

- Ability to work in shifts, including weekends/emergencies, if required

1. Regulatory & Safety Compliance

The technician must comply with:
- Applicable AERB requirements for medical X-ray installations
- Hospital/diagnostic-centre radiation-safety policies
- Applicable personnel monitoring/dosimetry requirements
- Equipment quality-assurance procedures
- Infection-control and biomedical-waste procedures, where applicable
- Instructions of the Radiologist, Medical Superintendent and designated Radiological Safety Officer (RSO)

For medical X-ray facilities, AERB also provides for designation of an appropriate Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) and requires radiation-protection measures and personnel monitoring.

1. Job Location

Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
